The Ultima Blade is a greatsword in Final Fantasy XII. It is found in treasures, or made in the bazaar. To make it in the bazaar, the player needs to sell two Adamantites and Death Powders as well as a Gnoma Halcyon. Adamantites are obtained from Adamantitan and Thalassinon, as well as a reward for the Darksteel Hunt. Death Powder is obtained from Bogey, Ahriman and Cultsworn Lich. Gnoma Halcyons are obtained from Gnoma Entites.

In the original version, its license costs 90 LP. In the Zodiac versions its license costs 80 LP and it can be equipped by Knight and Red Battlemage, but the latter must unlock Chaos to reach it on the License Board.

Etymology

Ultima means "the last" in Latin and many Latin-based languages. The word is an inflection of ultimus which is the superlative of ulter, which means "that is beyond". In the Spanish versions of many Final Fantasy games, the spell Ultima's name is written as "Artema", a close transliteration of the Japanese katakana.
