Ugetsu Tachikake is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is Makoto Obinata's brother and the leader of an insurgent group. Ugetsu is the antagonist in Samurai questline during the Stormblood expansion.

Early life[]
Born in the noble Tachikake clan from Bukyo, Ugetsu was a talented swordsman. Alongside his teacher, Master Musosai, Ugetsu embarked on a pilgrimage to confront injustice across Hingashi, but was instead incensed by the corruption he witnessed strangling his homeland. Reasoning that those in power had grown greedy and complacent over long years of peace, Ugetsu vowed to bring down the bakufu in fire and blood. He gathered a band of like-minded fellows, and began executing dignitary after dignitary in a string of assassinations. His philosophy of cutting out the old to make way for the new earned him few allies, however, and his methods became ever more extreme.[1]
With his actions Ugetsu ruined the reputation of his master as well as his clan. As punishment, his parents were summarily executed, and his family line stricken from the public record. His sister, Kagetsu, abandoned her birth name and joined the Sekiseigumi in hopes of one day getting revenge on her sibling.[2]
