Triton is a boss from Final Fantasy V that appears alongside Nereid and Phobos when the player attempts to obtain the tablet in the Great Sea Trench. In the Finest Fantasy for Advance and the 2013 versions, the trio also appears in the Sealed Temple's Cloister of the Dead.
Stats[]
Battle[]
Triton is the fire-elemental member of the trio, and absorbs fire damage. He uses physical attacks, party-wide and single target casts of Firaga and the Blue Magic Flame Thrower, which deals single target Fire damage. He is vulnerable to ice-elemental attacks.
Like his brothers, he is Undead and lacks the Heavy flag. He is vulnerable to poison, darkness, silence, old, petrify, death, confuse, sleep, paralyze and stop status ailments.
Similar to the Gargoyles, Triton, Nereid, and Phobos must be eliminated simultaneously, else they revive and retaliate with Delta Attack, which deals non-elemental damage and inflicts petrify.
Strategy[]
The battle can be won easily by summoning Odin. The Magic Lamp can even be recharged nearby.
Otherwise, the three can be easily defeated by repeated use of the Bard's Requiem and multi-target attacks, such as summons, or group-casting Black Magic, though the player should only use lightning, water, wind, holy or non-elemental attacks to ensure all three fall together. Syldra works well for this purpose, and her damage can even be augmented with Air Knife.

Behind the scenes[]
Early design documents of the game sent to Yoshitaka Amano mention that Triton, Nereid, and Phobos were initially meant to be fought at the Tycoon Meteorite. The trio were described to be male version of the Magus Sisters from Final Fantasy IV. [1]
