The Sunflower—A single, beautiful sunflower. Brilliant as the sun, wondrous as creation.
Final Fantasy XII Bazaar description
The Tournesol (トウルヌソル, Tōrunusoru?) is a weapon in the Final Fantasy series. Debuting in Final Fantasy XII, it is a golden greatsword with a sun on one side of the hilt, and moon on the other.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy XII[]
The Tournesol is the strongest greatsword. Its license is found at the bottom right corner of the License Board. It can be bought from the Bazaar under the name of "The Sunflower" for 600,000 gil. It is a golden sword with runes carved on the blade, and a sun on one side of the hilt, and moon on the other.
While it appears that the sword needs only three respective pieces of loot to synthesize, those items must also be synthesized first, and the total eight pieces of loot required can be hard to obtain in numbers.
The Tournesol license costs 225 LP. In the original release, it has an Attack Power of 140, topped only by the Zodiac Spear. While lacking a few points in attack power, the Tournesol exceeds the Zodiac Spear in terms of multi-hit and Evasion rate, but spears are faster weapons in terms of attack speed than greatswords.
Two fake Tournesols, alluding to the Excalibur and the Excalipur,[1] are used by Gilgamesh. These swords have a shorter handle and are meant to be wielded with one hand, and have a sun with a face (Excalibur) and a moon (Excalipur) on the hilt.
In the Zodiac versions, it now provides 138 Attack, 30 Evade, 35 CT, 10% combo rate, and requires the Tournesol license for 225 LP. It can be bought from the bazaar for 600,000 after selling Gemsteel x3, Empyreal Soul x3, and Serpentarius x3. It can be equipped by the Knight.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
In patch 2.5 Before the Fall part 1, when battling Gilgamesh's second form he wields the fake Tournesol as one of his weapons along other weapons from the franchise.
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]
With its beautiful sun-flared hilt, this large sword cuts down all who stands in its way.
Description
