Tonberry King (トンベリキング, Tonberi Kingu?) is a recurring enemy in the series. It is a more powerful version of the Tonberry or the Master Tonberry enemies. While it surpasses the standard Tonberry, it generally fights in the same way with the addition of one or two moves, primarily a move that drops a random object onto the party's heads for non-elemental damage.

Appearances[edit | edit source]
Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[edit | edit source]
Tonberry King is an enemy fought during "Mission 9-4-5: Only for SOLDIER." It is the second strongest of the Tonberry family, with the Holy Tonberry being the most powerful, and is a good source of gil as it drops 10,000 upon defeat. It fights just like any other Tonberry, but can disappear and reappear to use Kitchen Knife.
Final Fantasy VIII[edit | edit source]
Tonberry King is an optional boss fought in the Centra Ruins after defeating roughly 18–24 Tonberries (the king never appears in a battle where the player Cards the Tonberry). Tonberry King fights using a strong physical attack and a party-wide attack, and is one of the few enemies to have the spell Full-Life to draw. After defeating him, he will become the Tonberry Guardian Force. Tonberry King also has a Triple Triad card.
Final Fantasy XI[edit | edit source]

Final Fantasy XIV[edit | edit source]

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[edit | edit source]
A garish crown rests atop the head of this purple-skinned creature. Its lamp swings mournfully in time with its silent footfalls.
