Template:FFVI Enemies The Tonberries, not to be confused with the Tonberry, is an enemy in the game Final Fantasy VI. It is fought as a Monster-in-a-box in Umaro's cave, and there are three of them in the chest. The Tonberries attack by slowly advancing towards the party. When they reach the party, they will use their special attack, Knife, to instantly kill the member they are standing in front of. They will then return to the far side of the battle screen. Locke can steal valuable Minervas from them, and they sometimes drop Minervas as well.
Tonberriess is one of the four rages that cannot be learned by Gau. In the case of the other three such monsters (Siegfried, Typhon, and Death Warden) this is simply because the game does not trigger their appearance on The Veldt: forcing them to appear, such as through cheat cartridges like the Game Genie, allows the player to learn their rages. This is not true of Tonberries, who do appear on the Veldt. There are 256 rages available in the game, but because of a bug in the way the game accesses this data, the 256th Rage (Tonberries) does not work properly, and it was removed by the game's programmers.
