Tomboy Bandit is an Odd Job in Chapter 14, "In Search of Hope", in Final Fantasy VII Remake. While Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, and Barret Wallace find Johnny in the Sector 5 Undercity Station. Johnny was robbed by a bandit, and asks Cloud for help.

This sidequest intersects with "Corneo's Secret Stash".

Walkthrough[]

This quest intersects with "Corneo's Secret Stash", meaning both can be accepted before this. Accepting "Chocobo Search" is also ideal to provide fast travel, making the quest quicker.

Johnny is found in the plaza east of the Sector 5 Undercity Station. After talking to Johnny, head northwest towards Sanctuary Way. Before leaving the station, the party will spot Kyrie Canaan. Use the gap through the fence to go to Sanctuary Way, and head north along the linear path to reach the Sector 5 slums church, where Kyrie is.

After interacting with Kyrie by the flowers in the church, she will ask the party to compete in the Corneo Colosseum in Wall Market. Travel to Wall Market and use the elevator in the Colosseum. This battle is against an enemy who is weak to Ice Ice but absorb Fire Fire, meaning the Ice Materia Ice Materia should be equipped. The harder of the bosses is "undead" and can be damaged for 9999 HP with Raise Raise. Once ready, talk to the gatekeeper and accept the Special Match, leading to a battle against a beastmaster and a hellhound. The beastmaster can be defeated quickly with simple attacks, but against the hellhound, avoid its ranged attacks, and use abilities and ice spells to stagger it, then lay into it with abilities from all three characters. Using Raise on it also deals 9999 damage.

After defeating it, return to Kyrie to continue the quest. Kyrie will give Johnny's wallet (and the vault key if "Corneo's Secret Stash" was begun). This quest continues with the discovery sidequest, "Johnny's Stolen Wallet".

Hard mode tips[]

Beastmaster is simple to defeat, but hellhound is more durable than before, and MP should be conserved. Pairing ice materia and elemental on Cloud and Tifa is still a good strategy, and Raise still works. Barret should use Lifesaver with Regen Regen cast on him. While Cloud and Tifa use melee attacks, Barret should use Focused Shot from a distance at two ATB bars, while Cloud and Tifa use their own Focused Thrust and Focused Strike respectively to stagger it. Once staggered, use Tifa's Unbridled Strength techniques and True Strike to build up its stagger bonus damage, while Barret's Maximum Fury and Cloud's Infinity's End destroy it for good.

Defeating the hellhound earns Cloud The Art of Swordplay Vol. XI.
