Titan-Egi is a Summoner pet in Final Fantasy XIV. It is called by the
Summon II ability. Egis are arcane constructs created using the lingering aetheric essence of a defeated primal, in this case the Lord of Crags, Titan.
Obtained[]
Titan-Egi is obtained during the level 35 Summoner quest Austerities of Earth. Upon completing the quest battle, Titan-Egi permanently replaces the Topaz Carbuncle previously called by Summon II. Unlike most other abilities, this change will apply even if the Summoner is level synced below level 35, allowing them to retain the increased action potencies the Egi has over the Carbuncle. The only way for a player to truly summon Topaz Carbuncle again after unlocking Titan-Egi is to unequip their
Soul of the Summoner and revert to
Arcanist. The Summoner may also choose to glamour their Titan-Egi with the appearance of a Carbuncle, but this is aesthetic only and it will continue using Titan-Egi's abilities.
Use[]
Titan-Egi specializes in utility. It's Egi Assault is the only support-oriented Assault, and it also has the strongest burst area of effect (AoE) damage available to Egis. This versatility comes at the cost of having the lowest overall damage output of the Egis. Its auto-attack, Rock Buster, deals mediocre melee damage to only a single target, and it can't maintain its AoE damage over long periods. In addition, its Egi Assault won't generate stacks of
Further Ruin for the Summoner, hampering the Summoner's own DPS in addition to its own.
Titan-Egi's Egi Assault, Earthen Armor, grants the Summoner Stone Wall, a shield that absorbs damage equal to 30% of the Summoner's HP. With Egi-Assault's short 30s recast and 2 charges, Earthen Armor is an extremely powerful defensive ability. When soloing content, or learning and progressing new encounters, Earthen Armor makes Titan-Egi the safest Egi to use, providing Summoners with impressive durability. This durability also complements the Summoner's ability to support the party with
Resurrection.
Its Egi Assault II, Mountain Buster, is a powerful attack that damages all enemies around the Egi. Mountain Buster ties for the highest potency of all Egi Assaults, deals all of its damage in a single-blow unlike Garuda-Egi's
Slipstream, and has no damage dropoff unlike Ifrit-Egi's
Flaming Crush.
Titan-Egi's Enkindle, Earthen Fury, deals heavy AoE damage around the Egi while also applying a damage over time (DoT) effect in the target area. The DoT area is maintained by the
Razed Earth buff on the Egi; should the buff be removed or the summon be dismissed for any reason, the DoT area will immediately vanish. The Razed Earth area is also stationary, and risks losing out on damage ticks should the enemies move out of the area. While Earthen Fury provides the best combination of area and potency of all the Enkindles, in order to maximize its damage the Summoner must leave Titan-Egi on the field, during which its lower overall damage output can offset the gains provided by the Enkindle.
All Egi's use Devotion when commanded by Aetherpact, increasing damage dealt by nearby party members by 5%. As with other support AoEs it has a 15y radius, so party members should try to remain within 15y to ensure they can all benefit from Devotion and other support AoEs.
Summoning abilities are all off the global cooldown (oGCD) with a shared 3s recast, granting Summoners significant freedom in switching their active summons in combat. This can allow Summoners to quickly switch to Titan-Egi to apply Stone Wall in an emergency, or to take advantage of its Mountain Buster in an AoE phase before switching back to Garuda-Egi's more consistent output.
Actions[]
Without the Summoner's input, Titan-Egi will only auto-attack with Rock Buster. In order for Titan-Egi to use its other actions, the Summoner must command it to do so with Egi Assault, Egi Assault II, Enkindle, or Aetherpact.

Etymology[]
Titans (οἱ Τῑτᾶνες, hoi Tītânes) were members of the second order of divine beings in Greek mythology. They were descendants of the primordial deities born from the Chaos, and they preceded the gods of Olympus, who went on to overthrow them.
TheEgi, meaning "I have done", "I have accomplished", "I have led", or "I have pursued (a course of action)", is the first-person singular perfect active indicative form of the Latin verb ago, which generally means "I act" or "I do".
