Tindalos is an enemy from Final Fantasy X-2 found in the Heart of the Farplane. It uses Bandersnatch's model from Final Fantasy X.

Battle[]

Tindalos's attacks can deplete MP. It is the most dangerous Lupine fiend, and like most Lupines, can increase its strength two levels with Strength Up. In Oversoul, its Sextuple Attack attacks six times in a row; its Gil Gnasher removes 1,000 gil. It is vulnerable to Instant Death or Petrify attacks.

Strategy[]

As the Tindalos has low Defense and Magic Defense, the party should hit it with their strongest attacks. If the party has a captured creature that knows Stonetouch or Deathtouch, such as a Gecko or Tonberry, they can instantly defeat the Tindalos with a single physical attack.

Creature Creator[]

The Tindalos can be captured with a Trap pod S in Besaid in Chapter 5 after the player enters the Road to the Farplane at least once.

When recruited into the party, Tindalos starts with Attack and Strength Up. Eventually, it can learn Poison Fang (inflicts damage and Poison on one enemy) and Crackdown (inflicts damage and removes Shell, Reflect, and Protect), as well as Fire Eater (absorbs all Fire-elemental attacks), Slowproof, Stopproof, and Critical. Poison Fang can be learned by being hit with a Poison-inducing attack, while Crackdown and Critical are learnable by sustaining enough damage in battle, either from a finishing move like Flare or from a series of attacks. Slowproof and Stopproof are learned by being hit with any attack that inflicts either Slow or Stop (e.g. Shiva's Heavenly Strike).

As a Lupine, Tindalos is best suited for physical attacks. It boasts high Strength and Agility, as well as average Defense, but its Magic and Magic Defense are incredibly low. Because of this, unless the Tindalos has been given Magic Defense-increasing accessories, it is best to keep it away from enemies capable of casting powerful magic like the Black Elemental.

Fiend Tale[]

The Tindalos does not have a fiend tale. It lives to fight.

Fiend Arena[]

Two enemy team formations feature the Tindalos: Redstar & Darkstar (Tindalos and Flan Rojo) and Hellbreeders (Tindalos x2 and Gug); both of which are introduced in Standard Cup: Hard and Grand Cup: Hard. The latter is an excellent choice for farming EXP up until Chaos Vessel (Dolmen x3) is unlocked.

Etymology[]

A Hound of Tindalos is a fictional creature created by Frank Belknap Long and later incorporated into the Cthulhu Mythos when it was codified by August Derleth. They first appeared in Long's short story The Hounds of Tindalos (1929). Lovecraft mentions the creatures in his short story The Whisperer in Darkness (1931).
