"Thunderer" (雷鳴, Raimei?, lit. Thunder) is a recurring boss theme in Final Fantasy XIV.

It was composed and arranged by Masayoshi Soken, with the lyrics written by Michael-Christopher Koji Fox and the vocals performed by Fukiko Sekine.

"Thunderer" plays in most endgame boss FATE FATEs.

It also plays in most boss fights against the Ascians, namely against Lahabrea in the original dungeon of The Praetorium and against Nabriales in The Chrysalis The Chrysalis.

Since Patch 6.1, the boss fight against Lahabrea has been split from The Praetorium The Praetorium to its own solo quest battle in The Ultimate Weapon The Ultimate Weapon and "Thunderer" is retained as a boss theme during the first phase. The theme is also used as a boss theme during the final phase of the boss fight against Rhitahtyn sas Arvina in a solo quest battle in Operation Archon Operation Archon.

It is also the boss theme of Twintania in The Binding Coil of Bahamut - Turn 5 The Binding Coil of Bahamut - Turn 5.

"Thunderer" is the 76th track on the A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward[]

"Thunderer" returns as the boss theme during the first phase against Lahabrea and Igeyorhm in The Aetherochemical Research Facility The Aetherochemical Research Facility.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood[]

In the solo quest battle in A Requiem for Heroes A Requiem for Heroes, "Thunderer" plays during the second phase against Zenos zos Galvus whose body is possessed by Elidibus.

It plays again during the fight against Twintania in The Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate) The Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate).

Etymology[]

Thunder is the sound caused by lightning. Depending on the distance and nature of the lightning, thunder can range from a sharp, loud crack to a long, low rumble (brontide).
