- Scholars are only able to use this spell under the effects of Addendum: Black or Enlightenment.
- Automatons learn this spell automatically with the following setup: Spiritreaver Head, Stormwaker Frame, Automaton Magic Skill 291. They do not need to use a scroll.
- This spell is not the recurring spell Thundaja, which does not appear in FFXI. Thunder IV is the fourth level of Thunder. The other Thunder spells are Thunder, Thunder II, and Thunder III. Thundara does not appear. Thundaga is AoE Thunder, and exists as Thundaga, Thundaga II, and Thundaga III. Thundaja does not appear.

- Thunder IV, used by Ramuh, is a different ability. It can be cast even if silenced, and will not be countered as a spell by Colibri. It has a different MP cost and recast time, and is actually considered a job ability. Amnesia prevents this from being used.
