Thunder in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.

Thunder, also known as Elec, Lit, or Lightning, has appeared in other Square Enix titles as an ability, referencing the Final Fantasy version of the spell.

The original Game Boy versions of the first three entries of the SaGa series (known as the Final Fantasy Legend trilogy in the west) include the magic as the default lightning-elemental spell. The spell went by a different name in the localization of each entry - Elec in the first title, Thunder in the second, and Lit 1 in the third. The third entry features Lit 2 (サンダガ, Sandaga?, lit. Thundaga) as the spell's upgrade. The Japanese-exclusive 3D remakes of the second and third titles include several upgrades for Thunder - Thundara, Thundaga, Hell Thunder, Thunder Force, and Divine Lightning.

Lightning (サンダー, Sandā?, lit. Thunder) is a tech for Crono in Chrono Trigger, dealing light-elemental damage to a single target. In addition, the spell's upgrade, Lightning II (サンダガ, Sandaga?, lit. Thundaga), is a tech for both Crono and Magus. Both spells also appear in the Chrono series's spiritual successor, I Am Setsuna, as a spritnite ability for Setsuna, even carrying over the same suffixes in Japanese.

Ehrgeiz Thunder Materia

Thunder appears as a magic spell within the Forsaken Dungeon in Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring. The Basic version drops a stream of lightning on enemies and consumes one Magic Stone, while the Ultra version drops a large bolt of lightning on enemies and consumes three Magic Stones.

Thunder from BDII

Thunder in Bravely Default II.

Thunder, together with its higher tiers Thundara and Thundaga, appears as a recurring magic command in the Kingdom Hearts series. The spell's effect has varied across different titles from single targeting spell to an area-of-effect spell.

Thunder is featured as a recurring Black Magic spell in the Bravely series. It is often one of the first spells obtained for the Black Mage job in each title. The spell can also be used by Red Mages in titles associated with the first Bravely Default. In Bravely Default II, Thunder can also be performed through the use of the Oracle job's Triple spell.

Non-Square Enix titles[]

Thunder has also made cameo appearances or has been referenced in some titles not associated with Square Enix. Noctis can use Thunder in the form of his "Thunder Impact" and "Thunder Strike" moves in Tekken 7.
