Auron, Final Fantasy X

Threaten (おどす, Odosu?, lit. To Threaten) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. The ability originally appeared as a Special ability in Final Fantasy X, but has since appeared in certain spin-off titles as an ability for Auron.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Final Fantasy X[edit | edit source]

Threaten is a Special-type ability that inflicts the status of the same name onto an enemy. It costs 12 MP to use. This ability is located in the middle of Auron's section of the Sphere Grid.

With the exception of some parts of the storyline, characters using Threaten may say quotes more than once, like with Flee (when used by Tidus) and Provoke. The animation for Threaten is the same as each character's melee counterattack animation, as well as the animation for attacking themselves (aside from Wakka and Lulu).

Using Threaten on an enemy under Berserk will cure the status.

Threaten is Auron's default Soul Break, allowing him to deal moderate physical damage with a moderate chance to inflict the Stop status on a single enemy. It costs a single Soul Break bar to perform.
