The Voidcast Dais is a Trial Trial in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker added in patch 6.4 "The Dark Throne". It is a battle against the Knight in Black, Golbez.

Story[]

Normal[]

Having opened a voidgate of enormous proportions in Mare Lamentorum, you successfully cross over to the moon of the Thirteenth, beneath whose sanguine surface you find the imprisoned Azdaja. Alas, just when it seems the great wyrm's liberation is in sight, you are forced to watch as she is twisted into a being of Darkness by her captor Golbez. So it is that you sally forth into the black-clad villain's conjured stage, there to end his unholy crusade and free Azdaja from her torment.

Extreme[]

In a world bereft of Light and death's release, where to live is to devour or be devoured, Golbez had concocted his crusade. Though he had minions to carry out his will, he ultimately trusted none but himself and abided in solitude for thousands of years. What was it that sustained him through such a purgatory as he sought to enact his dark designs? It is this question which lingers on the wandering minstrel's mind, inspiring him with a new verse. As you listen to his solemn dirge of the black-clad villain's unforgivable deeds, your thoughts race back to that terrible clash of wills upon the moon of the Thirteenth, where Azdaja's fate hung in the balance...

Progression[]

Normal[]

Extreme[]

  • Phases of the Blade: Golbez cleaves half of the arena twice, first in front of him and then behind him.
  • Terrastorm: Casts two meteors that strike on the corners of the arena.
  • Lingering Spark: Targets every player with a lightning bubble that explodes on the spot the player was standing at the moment the cast ends.
  • Binding Cold: A raidwide that inflicts Frostbite.
  • Gale Sphere: Summons four ghosts. Each spawns four wind orbs, that travel from side to side.
  • Arctic Assault: Ice attack, that strikes a quarter its spikes point towards.
  • Void Meteor: Multi-hit AoE-tankbuster. Targets both tanks.
  • Black Fang: Multi-hit raidwide. Serves as the enrage at around 11:30 minutes.
  • Azdaja's Shadow: This ability has two effects.
    • A line-AoE tankbuster that strikes three times and inflicts a stacking debuff with each strike. Getting all three stacks results in instant KO.
    • A stored mechanic that either targets healers with stack marks, combined with an AoE around Golbez, or targets all players with an AoE, combined with a donut-AoE around Golbez that leaves only Golbez's hitbox safe.
  • Double Meteor: Causes three different mechanics that have to be resolved at the same time
    • One healer will be targeted with a hit that causes a knockback to everyone else. This knockback can't be countered with Arm's Length/Surecast. The healer will also be targeted with a tether, that causes a sweeping AoE, that healer must take alone.
    • Flare mark on one tank/healer and one DPS.
    • Two towers, one for two players and one for three players. Three-player tower is either in northeastern or northwestern corner, while the two-player tower will be in southeastern or southwestern corner, directly opposite from the three-player tower.
  • Void Stardust: Drops 16 comets to the field in two fixed patterns, 8 on both patterns. Inflicts Magic Vulnerability Up-debuff with every hit.
  • Eventide Fall: Strikes both healers with a hit, that must be taken by four players.
  • Eventide Triad: Strikes three times with a wide conal AoE, every time to a random player in each role (1 tank, 1 healer, 1 dps)

Musical themes[]

The Voidcast Dais' trial theme is "Voidcast Savior", a remix of "Battle With the Four Fiends" and the "Main Theme of FINAL FANTASY IV" from Final Fantasy IV.

Behind the scenes[]

The battle plays an homage to a boss fight against Golbez in Final Fantasy IV. In the battle, Cecil and his allies try to protect Dark Crystal from Golbez. Golbez summons Shadow Dragon and nearly wipes out the party, until Rydia arrives with the Mist Dragon, that defeats the Shadow Dragon.

Etymology[]

A dais is a raised platform or throne upon which figures important to their society (e.g. monarchs, dictators, etc.) reside upon when holding counsel.
