Since its establishment during Gelmorran times, this subterranean crypt has been used for generations as a final resting place for the remains of rulers and nobles. Since the Calamity, however, the tunnels have become overrun with the Lambs of Dalamud─a deadly cult who worships the now-fallen satellite as their savior. It is in the Deepcroft that these twisted souls silently plot revenge against those who fought to prevent the advent of Dalamud, summoning any dark presence who will aid them to this end...no matter what the cost.
Duty finder description
The Tam-Tara Deepcroft is the second dungeon that players will encounter in Final Fantasy XIV. It is part of a trio of consecutive low-level dungeons alongside
Sastasha and
Copperbell Mines, all sharing the same loot and serving to acclimatize new players to partying with others. A hard mode of Tam-Tara was released in patch 2.3.
Objectives[]
Map of the Tam-Tara Deepcroft.
Progression[]
Destroy the cultist orbs[]
In order to reach the final area of the Deepcroft the party must destroy the four cultist orbs throughout the duty, found on the Greenwood, Hardwood, and Wormwood Altars. The duty is mostly linear and destroying each orb is necessary in order to progress to the next area, so there is no risk of accidentally missing one of the orbs. The cultist orbs cannot be destroyed until all enemies at each Altar have been defeated. The Wormwood Altar contains two orbs but is blocked by a sealed barrier when the party arrives. In order to break the barrier the party must continue to the next room and obtain the
Cultist Rosary. Using the rosary on the barrier will destroy it.
Each Altar is guarded by a Dalamud priest and gravedigger imps. The Greenwood Altar will have two imps, Hardwood three, and Wormwood four, and the priest at the Wormwood Altar is replaced by Octavel the Unforgiving. All of these enemies have low health and only auto-attack spells, and are of little threat.
Defeating all the enemies at each Altar will cause a void soulcounter to immediately spawn in the center platform of the room, so the tank needs to be ready to aggro it right away. The soulcounters are identical in each of the three encounters. They will first cast Enthunder on themselves, enhancing their auto-attacks with roughly 40% additional lightning damage. Enthunder has a long recast and can be interrupted—doing so on the first Enthunder will significantly weaken the soulcounter, and it likely won't live long enough to cast it again. Beyond this their most threatening action is the frontal cone Condemnation.
Eternal Calm[]
Upon destroying the last two cultist orbs a bridge will appear, connecting the Wormwood Altar to Eternal Calm and allowing access to Galvanth the Dominator. At 80%, 60%, and 30% health, Galvanth will summon an inconspicuous imp and other monsters. As long as the imps are alive, Galvanth will become immune to all damage, making killing the imps a top priority. On the first occasion, Galvanth will only summon one imp which can be quickly taken down. On the second occasion, he will summon two skeleton soldiers and a Deepcroft miteling in addition to the imp, and on the third occasion he will summon two skeletons, two mitelings, and most importantly two imps, which must both be killed in order to attack Galvanth again. Killing the skeletons and mitelings is not necessary to bring down his invulnerability, but they have very low HP and can be easily AoE'd down.
Galvanth's most dangerous ability is Mind Blast, a large radial AoE that deals heavy damage and inflicts
Paralysis on anyone it hits. He will first use it at 50% HP, but with its lengthy recast will not likely use it again before being defeated.

Script[]
Musical themes[]
"Slumber Disturbed" is the theme that plays in the background of the Tam-Tara Deepcroft. Like many low-level dungeons, the theme that plays when fighting regular battles in Tam-Tara is "The Promise of Plunder", the theme for boss battles is "A Fine Death", and the final boss's battle theme is "Nemesis".
Behind the scenes[]
Approximation of the Tam-Tara Deepcroft's map in A Realm Reborn's alpha. Areas in green are inaccessible in release.
The Tam-Tara Deepcroft was the only dungeon available in the closed alpha test for A Realm Reborn. This version of Tam-Tara was greatly expanded, with several additional passages giving it a maze-like layout. All of the altars had sealed barriers like the one found on the Wormwood Altar that needed to be dispelled with cultist rosaries. The additional rosaries could be found in the unmarked tomb next to the Greenwood Altar and in an unnamed room in the passage behind the interring chamber. The Tomb of King of Galvanth the Dominator was located beyond the collapsed stairs next to its current location, and could only be accessed through the interring chamber passage. Players could then take a shortcut back to the interring chamber by sliding down the collapsed stairs.
The Dalamud priests and Octavel the Unforgiving were Miqo'te lancers during the alpha and did not spawn void soulcounters upon their defeat. Instead an additional boss, the dullahan Bockman, could be found in the Tomb of King Galvanth the Dominator.
The additional passages in the alpha Tam-Tara still exist in Tam-Tara's map, but have been made inaccessible by collapsed debris or locked doors. Bockman is no longer present in the duty, instead being the boss of the guildhest
Under the Armor, which takes place in the Deepcroft's entrance in the central Shroud, referencing Bockman's original location. The passages behind the interring chamber leading to the Tomb of King Galvanth the Dominator were later reimagined in the Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard), with Galvanth's tomb once again containing a dullahan boss, the Spare Body.
