I remember the water. How it turned crimson in the morning sun. A shimmering sea of rubies, stretching from horizon to horizon. You could almost believe it went on forever... But beyond that red expanse lay a land in turmoil. On the shores of Othard, our Doman brothers struggled in vain...
The Ruby Sea is a location in Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, located between Hingashi and Othard.
Profile[]

Activities[]
Duties[]
Shisui of the Violet Tides |
Nestled on the sands of the Turquoise Trench, a thousand thousand fathoms below the surface of the Ruby Sea, is Shisui of the Violet Tides. A resplendent palace erected by Raen refugees who fled underwater to escape the constant wars that raged upon the land, its unique beauty is nigh unparalleled. The light, however, quickly fades from its once-peaceful halls as sinister wraiths from the void pour forth, seizing the souls of all its occupants, including that of the Ruby Princess. Now, none but the Warrior of Light can save Shisui of the Violet Tides from the darkness that threatens to engulf it whole... |
Hells' Lid |
Having found themselves in somewhat dire financial straits, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn are on the lookout for profitable ventures. Fortuitously, one appears to have presented itself: an anonymous missive from an individual seeking the aid of the warrior who laid low the Lord of the Revel. But before they will divulge the details, they would put your abilities to the proof. To wit, you are to venture into the hidden depths of Hells' Lid, a volcanic island once home to a host of oni─at least, according to ancient legend... |
pool of tribute |
Your efforts to wreak havoc on the Isle of Zekki and draw the Red Kojin away from their Imperial masters have exceeded all expectations. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond your knowing, two of the sacred treasures in the isle's vault "reacted" to the presence of the Yasakami-no-Magatama, summoning forth from the aether the great kami Susano—a primal by any other name. How fortunate that you had the wisdom and foresight to invite several of your fellow adventurers on this trip to the Far East, and how kind they were to agree to help you torment the Red Kojin, for no single warrior, no matter how blessed or powerful, could ever hope to slay a primal on his own, despite what some wandering minstrels would have you believe. |
Hells' Kier |
As the return of the mad auspice Koryu draws ever closer, Genbu of the Four Lords seeks to marshal his comrades' strength. But while the white tiger, Byakko, has been restored to his senses, the radiant Suzaku is on the verge of succumbing to the aramitama. For centuries she has mourned the fallen Tenzen, and in her boundless grief struggled to accept his loss. What is more, her ascendant aramitama now clouds her mind and drives her to reject those who would offer her comfort. As before, there is but one way Suzaku can be brought back from the brink of madness─for the sake of the Ruby Sea and those who call her home, you and your comrades must quell the rage within the auspice's soul. |
wreath of snakes |
Having quelled the raging aramitama of the fearsome Byakko and the fiery Suzaku, the time has come for you and yours to confront the fourth member of this legendary band of heroes: Seiryu. Have no doubt that his trial will prove every bit as challenging as his comrades', for not only must you contend with the auspice himself, but his host of minions as well... |
pool of tribute extreme |
In the shadow of Kugane's renowned Mujikoza theater, you recount your clash with Susano to the wandering minstrel. Inspired by your tale, he proceeds to commit it to song, his gift for words imbuing events with an intensity you do not quite recall. Such is common practice when adapting for the stage, the minstrel explains, as your mind wanders back to the scene of battle, the verses echoing in your mind... |
hells' kier extreme |
Ever eager to put his lyrical skills to the proof, the wandering minstrel has crafted yet another tanka, this time deriving inspiration from your pitched battle against the auspice Suzaku deep beneath Hells' Lid. Knowing full well the suggestive power of his words, you once more close your eyes and set your mind adrift in the memories of that day, augmented by his dramatic flair... |
wreath of snakes extreme |
The wandering minstrel has never been one to pass up an opportunity to take artistic liberties for the sake of drama. On this particular occasion, he has embellished the circumstances surrounding your battle with Seiryu of the Four Lords on a secluded isle in the Ruby Sea. Indeed, no one could have possibly predicted that a Hingan tanka would possess such power as to spirit you through time and space unto an alternate reality, but seeing as you and your (imaginary?) comrades are in this (imagined?) realm, you may as well make the most of it. |
Heaven-on-High |
Rising high above the Ruby Sea from the island of Onokoro, Heaven–on–High is said to be the stairway traversed by kami descending from their empyrean home. Following the discovery of a secret entrance, the Confederate leader Rasho asks you to investigate the tower and brave the hordes of vile fiends that lurk within. |
