I have sworn to vanquish all who would besmirch this sacred place. All trespassers shall be eliminated.
Guardian
The Rogue Guardian, also known as simply Guardian in the subtitles, is a boss in Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn. It guards the Wall amplifiers in the city of Insomnia and resembles a smaller version of the Lucii known as the Rogue, but does not wield the Star of the Rogue royal arm, using an ornamental shuriken instead.
Archives[]
- These mass-produced stone statues were created to protect the Wall amplifiers positioned around the Crown City. This particular model is fashioned after the Rogue, a famed Lucian monarch and a fixture in the Old Wall. Rumors suggest the spirits of other rulers of yore reside within these figures, determined to destroy any who would wish harm upon the kingdom or her people.
Battle[]
Praise be to the gods above!
Ardyn Izunia
The Rogue runs up to the player to melee with its giant shuriken. It can disappear, leaving behind a hologram, and then reappear in ambush. It can detonate the holograms left behind. It may buff itself to boost its Strength. When made vulnerable, the Rogue Guardian kneels on the floor and does not fight back for a time.
Once its health is almost gone, the player will have to daemonify the Guardian to win; if the player simply keeps attacking without using Daemonify, it will not fall. This can be used to unlock the 400+ combo required for the Max Combo that counts toward the rank the player will get for completing the episode.
The Rogue Guardian may appear alone or a alongside the Fierce Guardian. There are seven Wall amplifiers around Insomnia.
Strategy[]
The player can use EX and Mettle VX boosts before approaching the Wall amplifiers. They are obtained as spoils and bought from vending machines.
During the battle, the player can hold the analogue stick up while holding to get behind the Guardian, then use only to blindside the boss and open a Daemonifying prompt. The player can then repeat the maneuver.
Using Royal Retribution is good as the player is invincible during its animation and it makes the Rogue Guardian vulnerable. The player can buy Ethers from vending machines and unlock the Spectral Charge ability in the Descension and then use MP to regenerate Ardyn's swords to 12 and use Royal Retribution wantonly.
