Sunday, August 27, 2017 marks the fourth anniversary of FINAL FANTASY XIV! To celebrate this momentous occasion, we’ll be holding a special in-game event: The Rising.[1]
The A Missing Minstrel and Perilous Pest Problem was the 2017 edition of the seasonal event The Rising in Final Fantasy XIV.
The event was started by accepting the 
A Reoccurring Bug sidequest by talking to Nonora in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (X:10.7 Y:10.2).
History[]
According to Nonora, a mechanical menace long considered defeated has returned to disrupt the celebration. Hoping to resolve the matter quickly and without incident, she enlisted the help of the Wandering Minstrel who helped drive off these insectoid machines once before. Although there have been no sightings of the creatures for several days, the wandering minstrel has yet to return, leaving Nonora worried. She invites the Warrior of Light to venture to Nophica's Wells, where she last heard from him, and see what you can find.
Arriving at Nophica's Wells, the Warrior of Light has discovered a strange aetherial rift near the water, as well as several metallic insects scattered on the ground. As soon as the Warrior of Light approaches the crevice, he is taken to what appears to be a prison cell. Inside this dark, dank chamber, the Warrior of Light encounters the wandering minstrel.

The minstrel says that in destroying the final insect, it unleashed peculiar magics that not only transported him to the current environment, but also stripped him of his ability to teleport. He deduced that in the remains of a mechanical insect that followed him through the rift, there is a secret command that could dispel the magics. He tried to probe its mechanical mind, but what he found was a complex maze, seemingly devoid of rhyme or reason. Having exhausted himself after days of searching, the minstrel asked Warrior of Light to take on the mission in his place.
After navigating the labyrinth, the Warrior of Light discovered a pattern and soon determines the command that will grant the wandering minstrel his freedom. With a strum of his harp, he utters the words that lead them both back to the Nophica's Wells. As they return, Nonora gasps in admiration as he hears the rescue story. With reassurance for the ongoing celebration, the minstrel thanks them with a brief tribute in verse.[2]
