Thursday, August 27, 2015 marks the second anniversary of FINAL FANTASY XIV! To celebrate this momentous occasion, we'll be holding a special in-game event: The Rising.
Players will have the chance to receive special minions and a number of commemorative items, so don't miss this chance to celebrate two years of adventure in Eorzea![1]
The second The Rising took place on August 27, 2015 in Final Fantasy XIV.
The event was started by accepting the
A World Away sidequest by talking to Nonora in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (X:10 Y:10).
History[]
Nonora said that an invasion of insectoid machines was threatening to disrupt the realm's birthday celebrations and a flamboyant bard was confronting them. The Warrior of Light went to the scene and helped the Wandering Minstrel repel the insectoids.
Once returned to speak with Nonora, the wandering minstrel says that unless a permanent solution is found, the bugs will continue to proliferate. The ministrel hears a timbre coming from a piece of insectoid that the Warrior of Light had collected. He asked Nonora if she knows any composers, and Nonora replied that she had recently met a visiting composer who had traveled from afar to attend the anniversary celebrations and seek inspiration for his next work. The ministrel suggests talking to the composer to help decipher the message.
The composer says that it was more than a standard mechanical hum, and that there was a definite rhythm to it. He notes that if looked closely, it is possible to see some symbols, appearing in rhythm with the beat. He then suggested showing the object to a translator friend of his.
After looking closely at the symbols on the scrap, the translator deciphers two distinct themes: "proliferation" and "command". Unsure about the meaning of these words, however, he recommends speaking to another visitor to Ul'dah, whose eclectic knowledge of ancient civilizations may hold the answers.
In telling the visiting author about the situation, he recalls a passage he found while researching for a novel set in ancient Allag. It seems that the Allagans once developed a mechanism that allowed the mass production of mechanical weaponry. After speaking with the wandering engineer in the Goldsmith's Guild and inviting him to speculate on the exact nature of the mechanism at work, the engineer argues that playing a specific tune after defeating the bugs might interfere with the replication command.
Naoki Yoshida greets the Warrior of Light.
Inspired by the talented souls who have jointly created a solution to the insect problem, the ministrel is motivated to compose an ode on the spot. Listening to the music, the Warrior of Light has his mind taken to another world, presented as the "Eighteenth Floor". As speaks with Naoki Yoshida, he thanks him for his heroic deeds in the kingdom of Eorzea and the Warrior of Light returns to Ul'dah as if nothing had happened.[2]
