The Pirate King's Challenge: Quest for the Lost Treasure was an event in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. It is the fourth in a series of Summer-themed events, and the third annual seasonal event campaign for summer.

Synopsis[]

While searching for the keystone to the Temple of the Ancients, Cloud and his party retrieve an illuminated treasure map and proceed to Costa del Sol to contemplate their next steps. Red XIII recounts a tale he heard from Bugenhagen about the legendary Pirate King and his three sealed treasures.

Upon opening the map, Cloud and company (sans Yuffie) are transported aboard the Pirate King's ship to seek out and dispel the three fabled seals, though the mere thought of ghosts is enough to give Tifa the heebie-jeebies. Aerith tries to reassure the entire party when Cloud suddenly has a spell of motion sickness and monsters attack. They steel themselves for battle, defeating the monsters and breaking the last seal. The spirit of the Pirate King appears before them, congratulating them for their efforts. The combined power of Leviathan and Bahamut is theirs to claim, along with a golden chest containing the King's crown, plus the title of Pirate King. They refuse the latter two and return to Costa del Sol empty-handed, much to Yuffie's dismay, though Red XIII vows to look after the treasure until such time as another should take on the quest. The party resumes their search for the keystone, now with the knowledge of previously uncharted waters bestowed upon them by the Pirate King.

Event rewards[]

Players battled the combined force of Leviathan and Bahamut to receive Old Gold Coins, Old Silver Coins, and Map Fragments as shop currency, where the featured pickups were the Thunder (Cross) series materia recipes, Ruin (Cross) materia, Vincent's Electro Peashooter event weapon, and Barret's Hook Launcher event weapon. As part of the Summer 2025 campaign, panel bingo missions offered the chance to obtain new event wallpaper. An additional board was added for Volume 2 featuring bonus upgrade materials as panel and milestone completion prizes.

Featured draws[]

This event featured a multi-volume vouchered Stamp Card draw bar Volume 3, with new gear sets for 2025 rolling out alongside previous paid gear from 2024. Volume 1 offered the Pink Mermaid Beachwear set for Aerith. Volume 2 debuted the Shining Spirit Beachwear set for Tifa. Volume 3 introduced the Resort Style beachwear set for Angeal with the Inflatable Buster Sword. Volume 4 featured Zack's Surfer Look. All draws for July 2025 featured Red XIII's Limited Moon.

Behind the scenes[]

Leviathan & Bahamut debuted as a Double Summon on July 2, 2025.

An unspecified technical issue during the Summer 2025 campaign, of which this event is a component, forced the development team to disable the usual weekly pickup missions for the week of July 27-August 2, also coinciding with an expected content update for the upcoming Dragon Quest Tact campaign. The team has offered to distribute the equivalent of the week's mission rewards to all players at a later date.
