Squall's speech.

"The Oath" plays during scenes when Squall Leonhart's leadership is highlighted when he makes a speech to the struggling Balamb Garden SeeDs and cadets during the Battle of the Gardens. It also plays at the Sorceress Memorial (though not during the rescue cut scene) and when Fujin and Raijin confront Seifer Almasy in the Lunatic Pandora.

"The Oath" was released as track 10 of disc 2 on the Final Fantasy VIII: Original Soundtrack. It was released again on the Revival Disc.

Final Fantasy XV[]

"The Oath" plays in the music player after the player buys the Memories of FFVIII soundtrack from Hammerhead for 100 gil.

An orchestral arrangement orchestrated by Shirō Hamaguchi is included on this album as track 11. It was conducted by Koji Haijima and recorded at Sound City and Victor Studio.

"The Oath", arranged by Shirō Hamaguchi and performed by Shinko Ogata, is included on this album as track 8.

Distant Worlds IV: more music from FINAL FANTASY[]

An orchestral arrangement performed by the Distant Worlds Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus is included on the album as track 5. It was conducted by Arnie Roth and recorded in March 2017 in the Dvorak Hall, Rudolfinum, Prague, Czech Republic.

It was released again as track 6 on the Distant Worlds and A New World Collections: music from Final Fantasy VIII.

Tour de Japon: Music from Final Fantasy[]

"The Oath" was performed during the concert tour, arranged by Shirō Hamaguchi. The Yokohama performance on March 12, 2004 was recorded and released on the DVD album. It was conducted by Taizo Takemoto and performed by the New Japan Philharmonic.

Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy Jiritsu[]

Shirō Hamaguchi's orchestration of "The Oath" was performed and recorded for the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary. It was conducted by Arnie Roth and performed by the New Japan Philharmonic.

Final Fantasy VIII Music Collection[]

A CD titled Final Fantasy VIII Music Collection was released as a freebie along with the Japanese PC-version release. The first print of this release has Yoshitaka Amano art on the CD, while the regular version has Quistis Trepe's character art drawn by Tetsuya Nomura. The CD includes "The Oath" from FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC: Final Fantasy VIII.
