"The Land Breathes" (大地の鼓動, Daichi no Kodō?, lit. Beat of the Land) is the main normal battle theme of La Noscea from Final Fantasy XIV. The game currently features five versions of the theme, each version plays in five territories of Eorzea. All five versions were composed by Masayoshi Soken.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Since the beginning of version 2.0 (A Realm Reborn), five different battle themes were designed by Masayoshi Soken for the five main regions of Eorzea. The versions for the three city-states of the Eorzean Alliance vary only slightly. "The Land Breathes", the version which plays in the areas of La Noscea, features a focus on the horn. "The Land Bends" (森の鼓動, Mori no Kodō?, lit. Beat of the Forest), which plays in the Black Shroud, instead includes a flute accompaniment. Meanwhile, "The Land Burns" (荒野の鼓動, Areno no Kodō?, lit. Beat of the Desert), from the region of Thanalan, includes a harp.

"The Land Burns" is the 6th track, "The Land Breathes" is the 19th track, and "The Land Bends" is the 28th track in A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.

The two other versions of the song are very different in instruments used, and are more distinct from the other three arrangements. "The Land Breaks" (雪山の鼓動, Setsuzan no Kodō?, lit. Beat of the Snow Mountain) plays in the region of Coerthas, and relies strongly on an organ to give it a more melancholic feel. "The Land Bleeds" (水晶の鼓動, Suishō no Kodō?, lit. Beat of the Crystal) plays in the region of Mor Dhona is a more orchestral piece with a harmony added to create a more solemn-sounding version.

"The Land Breaks" is the 71st track and "The Land Bleeds" is the 86th track in A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.
