The Invitation is a quest in Chapter 2, "Covert Ops", of "Episode INTERmission" in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. After Scarlet deduces that Yuffie Kisaragi and Sonon Kusakabe are infiltrating the Shinra Building in search of a materia, she invites them to the testing ground for some of her weapons. Though Yuffie sees it is an obvious trap, she obliges, feeling she and Sonon can handle it fine, something he agrees to enthusiastically.

Walkthrough[]

Follow the corridor to the Testing Grounds. In the Weapons Testing Ground Entrance, a bench and vending machine are found. Use the bench, and prepare for the battles ahead. Most are against machines, meaning they have a weakness to Lightning Lightning; pairing Lightning Materia Lightning Materia and Elemental Materia Elemental Materia to a weapon is therefore useful for many of the battles ahead, and it is ideal to have First Strike Materia First Strike Materia. Sonon is also more useful with Synergy Materia Synergy Materia paired with lightning materia.

Select the first weapon by hitting the switch above the railing in front of the elevator, which will descend to the first station in B20 - Advanced Weaponry: Testing. Here, choosing a path decides which enemies you'll face; for Enemy Intel completion, you will need to do this again via Chapter Select to get all possible enemies.

The options become available on the test, by ordinance type:

  • Selecting the left path leads to battle against Mark II Monodrives (resist/block physical, weak to wind). The Monodrives are not too dangerous, but can become immune to physical or magic damage; Synergized Windstorm and spells are ideal when they are immune to physical damage, while Synergized Art of War and physical attacks are best when they are immune to magic.
  • Taking the right path fights a pair of Sweepers, which are straightforward enemies weak to lightning, and thus taken down with throwing Yuffie's weapon and using Lightning Ninjutsu and Thunderous Banishment.

The second station has the following options:

  • Selecting the type on the left leads to a battle against a Cutter, a highly durable melee enemy. Keeping a distance from it and using Throw and Lightning Ninjutsu, as well as Synergized Art of War and Thunderous Banishment, can defeat it.
  • Selecting the type on the right leads to a battle against two Blast-Rays. These are durable ranged enemies that are weak to lightning and best taken down by attacking in melee range, and using a mix of Synergized Arts of War and Thunderous Banishments while guarding against their missiles.

After this stage, there are two options available for the third station:

  • Selecting the type on the left leads to a battle against Monodrives. A Synergized Windstorm can deal with them quickly, both due to area-of-effect damage and exploiting their Wind Wind weakness.
  • Selecting the type on the right leads to a battle against Slug-Rays. A Synergized Windstorm is still effective against them, though using Thunder Thunder with Magnify Materia Magnify Materia can also destroy them quickly.

Two more types become available for the fourth station:

  • Selecting the left type leads to a battle against an M.O.T.H. Unit. This enemy mostly attacks in melee range, meaning Throw and Lightning Ninjutsu is best. Synergized Art of War is effective.
  • Selecting the right type leads to a battle against two Armored Magitroopers. These are more challenging enemies (meaning it is better to fight the M.O.T.H. Unit), due to their powerful laser effects. Using Steal or Mug to take their core is useful, and Synergized Art of War is best due to their immunity to magic. It is important to keep a distance from their Eject ability.

For the fifth station, there is only one type available, leading to a battle against Deathwheel, a new enemy type that is weak to all elements except lightning. This is fast and durable enemy that is hard to hit most of the time with physical attacks, and though a well-placed Synergized Art of War can deal heavy damage, its speed means most attacks do not connect. Throw and ninjutsu will work, though using spells to pressure it may be better. When pressured, it is vulnerable to attack, and can be brought down with physical damage.

After destroying Deathwheel, Scarlet sends another elevator to commence the next quest, "Fateful Confrontation".

Hard mode tips[]

Most strategies are the same as they were before, although enemies' attacks becoming more powerful makes Brumal Form near-essential. Defeating Deathwheel in hard mode drops 10 SP books for both Yuffie and Sonon.
