The worlds have been bridged! Be at ease, everyone. Your aether will soon be replenished.
I will suffer no interference. Disappear.

Queen Eternal

The Interphos is the last main scenario Trial Trial in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail added in patch 7.0. It is a battle against the Queen Eternal.

Story[]

Normal[]

A world free of suffering and loss... This earnest wish, made by the young Queen Sphene in her final moments, was realized centuries later in the form of Living Memory, the twisted paradise behind the legend of the golden city. In order to obtain the aether needed to sustain the sanctuary’s recreated denizens, Sphene has shed her conscience─the memories she had as a living person─to arise as within the Meso Terminal a terrifying entity possessed of absolute authority. Thus empowered, she now seeks to initiate interdimensional fusion and harvest the life force of people in other worlds, and it falls to you to stop her before untold lives are sacrificed.

The Minstrel's Ballad: Sphene's Burden[]

With harp cradled in his arms, the wandering minstrel sings a sorrowful song of a recreated queen. Helpless to defy the purpose she was given, this simulacrum sought to preserve the memories of her subjects by taking the lives of innocents in other reflections. Though she met her end by your hands, had she been further along her ill-fated path by the time of your confrontation, might she have proven unstoppable and gone on to wreak untold death and devastation? Such questions play on your mind as the minstrel's verse bears you away to a world of the imagination, where you once again come face-to-face with the dread entity known as Queen Eternal...

The Minstrel's Ballad: Sphene's Burden[]

Phase 1[]

Begin by splitting your group into light parties. Shortly after the boss is pulled, Queen Eternal will cast Aethertithe. Just like in normal mode, the arena will change into a green-and-black grid and will require players to avoid the distorted parts. After she finishes cleaving a third of the arena, she will hit both healers with line stack AoEs. Both mechanics will repeat two more times before the boss casts Virtual Shift, dealing raidwide damage and changing the arena into an X-shaped platform.

The boss will cast Laws of Wind, targeting both healers with light party stacks. Both parties must position themselves on the northwest and southeast bridges, with the healers moving slightly to the edges of the platform. Once the stacks resolve, they will drop tornado AoEs that will knock anyone who stays in them off to their deaths. Everyone will also get a debuff that, once expired, shifts them in the direction shown. Return to the center of the arena, as everyone will get chained together. Once the chains go out, the DPS should go northeast, while the supports go southwest. At the same time, the boss will cast Legitimate Force, working like it did in normal mode. Unlike normal mode, she will never cleave one side of the arena twice. Dodge the cleaves and position yourself on the side of the platform to get knocked back to the opposite side. The boss will then cast World Shatter for raidwide damage and will return the arena to normal.

The boss will cast Prosecution of War, a tankbuster that hits twice and inflicts a blunt vulnerability up on each hit. It is highly recommended to tank swap instead of using your invulnerability. The party should fan out as the boss casts Divide and Conquer, which targets each player with line AoEs that inflict a magic vulnerability up debuff. Once hit, players should move out of the initial hits, as the boss will hit the exact same spots again once all eight AoEs resolve. The boss will then cast Virtual Shift again, changing the arena into two separate platforms.

On the center of the platforms there are two puddles that shift players' gravity when stepped on. Step onto the puddles to float, then head to the middle as the boss casts Laws of Earth spawning four towers each on both platforms.

Musical themes[]

The final boss theme that plays in the Interphos is "Paved in Solitude" (ひとつの路 ~エターナルクイーン討滅戦~, Hitotsu no Michi ~Etānarukuīn Tōmetsusen~?, lit. Path of One ~Eternal Queen Showdown~) which is an arrangement of "Bygone Serenity" by Takafumi Imamura, the theme of Living Memory, which is also arranged into "A Trail Unending", the final dungeon theme of Alexandria.

During the final phase and victory lap of the fight in normal mode, the theme that plays is "Paved with Resolve" (ふたりの路 ~エターナルクイーン討滅戦~, Futari no Michi ~Etānarukuīn Tōmetsusen~?, lit. Path of Two ~Eternal Queen Showdown~) which is an arrangement of Dawntrail by Yoshitaka Suzuki and Masayoshi Soken.

Behind the scenes[]

At launch, Wuk Lamat's dialogue in English was widely criticized by players, primarily due to sounding flat and their lack of emotional delivery. The release of patch 7.1 added re-recorded dialogue that featured louder and more guttural yells compared to the previous recordings, and were praised as a significant improvement. According to Sena Bryer, she lost her voice the day after recording, and kept the session a secret.[1]
