Collect just six flyers for the Happy Turtle, and a one-of-a-kind prize could be yours!

Old Snapper

The Happy Turtle Ad Campaign is a Discovery quest in Chapter 1, "Wutai's Finest", of "Episode INTERmission" in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Yuffie Kisaragi meets the Old Snapper, a Wutaian handing out flyers for the Happy Turtle bar. Out of obligation to help a fellow Wutaian, Yuffie agrees to collect six flyers for him.

The Happy Turtle Ad Campaign is a reference to the Turtle's Paradise sidequest in the original Final Fantasy VII, in which players needed to read six flyers around the world advertising the Turtle's Paradise bar that was located in Wutai Village.

The brand has its own mascots, which are stylized turtles wearing vases over their bodies instead of shells, reminiscent of the Magic Pot.

Walkthrough[]

After talking to the Old Snapper, there are six flyers found around the Sector 7 Slums, each indicated with a Happy Turtle Jingle jukebox playing nearby. As mentioned by the quest description:

  1. Some kids hid one somewhere: Located in the playground southern end of the Residential Area, east of the Old Snapper. Past a stash of boxes, the Happy Turtle Newsletter 1 is found on the wall.
  2. Floating through the air: Happy Turtle Newsletter 2 is located in the southeast tip of the Residential Area, close to Wedge. Hop over the box to a small corner, and use Yuffie's Throw to throw the ninja star and pop the balloon, dropping the flyer. Pick it up where it lands to obtain it.

  3. Near Old Snapper's friend's apartment building: Located in Stargazer Heights on the second floor. Climb the ladder, and walk slowly between boxes when the guard dog is sleeping. The flyer is on the wall just next to the dog (by the cleaning mop). Grab it to obtain Happy Turtle Newsletter 3 (a short cutscene commences after grabbing it).
  4. A cat took one on Culvert Street: Located through the tunnel in the northern end, west of Seventh Heaven. A cat will be found in the tunnel and run through to the other side, where a number of cats are playing with newsletters. The correct cat is located at the back end of the area, where Happy Turtle Newsletter 4 is found, along with a treasure chest containing two hi-potions.
  5. On the town bulletin board: Found in the Pillar Plaza bulletin board on the east end. Upon approaching the Pillar Plaza, Wymer will briefly talk to Yuffie; walk past him to find the flyer on the bulletin board.
  6. Near the old Talagger factory: Located within the Abandoned Talagger Factory, with combat involved. Follow the path marked by different Happy Turtle Jingles playing throughout, to eventually lead to the area in eastern end of the factory. Along the way, a few small enemies are fought, in the form of Toxirats, wererats, and terpsicolts, all of which are weak to Ice Ice-elemental damage. Ice Ninjutsu is good against all enemies here.

Along the way, the Chakra Materia Chakra Materia materia should be picked up from the corner in the southwestern area of the map, and Monodrive (Ranged) is found among the rubble near a graffiti of Stamp on the back wall Stamp graffiti pinpoints treasure in FFVIIR INTERmission. Eventually, upon reaching the eastern end, two venomantises are fought, which are more durable enemies that are capable of inflicting Slow Slow and Poison Poison. Once again, Ice Ninjutsu should be used, and a combination of several attacks including Art of War can help. Upon defeating them, grab the First Strike Materia First Strike Materia in the corner First Strike Materia in FFVIIR INTERmission, and after breaking a few stashed boxes, Happy Turtle Newsletter 6 is found on the wall.

After finding them all, the Old Snapper will grant Yuffie the Magnify Materia Magnify Materia, ending the quest.

Hard mode tips[]

On the hard difficulty, the enemies within the Abandoned Talagger Factory are slightly more durable, though they are still easy enough to defeat using the same methods. Sonon can equip Elemental Materia Elemental Materia paired Ice Materia Ice Materia, as well Synergy Materia Synergy Materia with either Ice or Wind Materia Wind Materia to further augment damage.

Behind the scenes[]

The quest to find flyers for the Happy Turtle around the Sector 7 slums was originally going to be part of a chapter in Final Fantasy VII Remake in which Tifa Lockhart was the main protagonist. Tifa would embark on a sidequest to find the flyers around the slums to and would be rewarded with the Happy Turtle newsletter, the second of two pieces needed for her Wutai dress. The quest was planned to similarly provide an homage to the Turtle's Paradise sidequest in the original Final Fantasy VII, as well as create a connection to Yuffie, who did not appear in the original Final Fantasy VII Remake.[1]
