Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call description
"The Chase" (クレイジーモーターサイクル, Kureijī Mōtāsaikuru?, lit. Crazy Motorcycle), also known as "Crazy Motorcycle", is a theme in Final Fantasy VII, composed and arranged by Nobuo Uematsu.
Game appearances[]
Final Fantasy VII[]
"The Chase" plays during the minigame on the Midgar Expressway during "The Nightmare Beginning Anew". It is track 22 of disc 1 on the Final Fantasy VII: Original Soundtrack.
It was remastered and released as track 22 on the Final Fantasy VII Original Soundtrack Revival Disc.
Final Fantasy VII Remake[]
"The Chase" returns in the remake for the bike minigame.
The first arrangement is "Lay Down Some Rubber - Let's Ride" (クレイジーモーターサイクル ー行くぜ野郎どもー, Kureijī Mōtāsaikuru -Ikuze Yarōdomo-?, lit. Crazy Motorcycle -Let's Go, Bastards-), additional composition and arranged by Mitsuto Suzuki. It plays during the minigame through the Corkscrew Tunnel in "Motor Chase" in Chapter 4, "Mad Dash". It is track 9 of disc 2 on the Final Fantasy VII Remake Original Soundtrack.
The second arrangement is "Midgar Expressway" (ミッドガル・ハイウェイ, Middogaru Haiwei?, lit. Midgar Highway), arranged by Yoshinori Nakamura, with a more metallic-type track and includes a male voice "singing" along with the music during later parts. The track also includes motifs from "Opening - Bombing Mission", "Let the Battles Begin!", and "Fight On!". It plays during the minigame on the Midgar Expressway in "Flying Through the Night" in Chapter 18, "Destiny's Crossroads". It is track 5 of disc 7 on the original soundtrack. "Midgar Expressway - Long Ver." (ミッドガル・ハイウェイ Long Ver., Middogaru Haiwei Long Ver.?, lit. Midgar Highway Long Ver.) is a longer version with additional composition by Nakamura and Masashi Hamauzu and is track 16 of disc 4 on the Final Fantasy VII Remake Original Soundtrack Plus.
Nakamura stated that making the first arrangement demo for the crazy motorcycle at the beginning section took less than a week. He also kept the tempo at 190 bpm despite the difficulty of adding and changing motifs in the subsequent sections. He was particular about featuring guitars in all sections of "Midgar Expressway" and decided to incorporate the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children versions for the sections of "Let the Battles Begin!" and "Fight On!".[1]

Lyrics[]

- Miles of highway in my rearview
- A night like this is better with you, yeah
- Tonight, you and me are getting crazy
- Driving oh so dangerously
- My engine is revved up, my temperature's high
- Oh, pale moon in the steel sky
- Be my guide tonight
- Light the way to where you are
