Oh, shut up and help me remodel the The Aery page!
The Aery is a Dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, the floating fortress of the great wyrm Nidhogg, flying above the Churning Mists.
Story[]
Sensing the death of his consort, a wary Nidhogg has surrounded his lair with a wall of tempestuous winds. After calling upon the assistance of Cid and his ingenious engineers, however, you and Estinien are now ready to breach this howling barrier on the wings of their latest airship prototype—the manacutter. Join the Azure Dragoon on this, the greatest of wyrm hunts, and mount a direct assault upon the Aery. Only with the death of Nidhogg can you ensure the preservation of Ishgard...and bring an end to the Dragonsong War.

Progression[]
Aery Exterior[]
Upon arriving into the aery the party is attacked by dragon's and lightning sprites brought about by the weather. Occassionally on the way through the exterior lightning will strike the ground as a circular AoE.
Akh Fahl Lye[]
Upon entering Akh Fahl Lye the party comes across the dragonkin Rangda, who has many lightning based attacks.
Aery Interior[]
The interior of the Aery is the nesting grounds of Nidhogg's brood. Crossing any of the bridges leads a dragon to fly overhead and breathe lightning over the area. Any Nidhogg Broodling that is killed near a slumbering dragon will cause it to awake, and attack the group.
Ten Oohr[]
Leaving the interior of the Aery leads the party outside once more and into the area Ten Oohr. Here they meet the dragon Gyascutus.
Aery Apex[]
After defeating Gyascutus the party moves across falling pillars and more dragons.
Errn Scorh[]
Upon entering Errn Schorh the parties path is blocked by crystal, and the party is attacked by Down Wyverns. Each Wyvern protects a crystal on the path, and upon their defeat the crystal breaks and the party can continue on.
Nidhogg An[]
The party arrives at Nidhogg An, where the great wyrm is waiting for them. With Nidhogg's last defenses gone, the stage is set for a final showdown that will decide the fate of the Dragonsong War.

Musical themes[]
"Roar of the Wyrm" (邪竜の咆吼 〜邪竜血戦 ドラゴンズエアリー〜, Jaryū no Hōkō 〜Jaryū Kessen Doragonzuearī〜?, lit. Roar of the Wicked Dragon ~Wicked Dragon Bloody Battle Dragon's Aery~), an arrangement by Ken Ito of the main Churning Mists theme "Landlords", plays at all times except during boss battles.
"To the Fore" plays while fighting Rangda and Gyascutus, while "Primogenitor" plays during the battle with Nidhogg.
Behind the scenes[]
Although there are Allagan pieces around the Aery Apex, it hasn't been explained how or why they got there. In addition, there was a bug where players abused the Draconian Light buff Estinien gives players at the end of the fight. Players somehow brought the buff outside the instance and used it in PVP or other areas. It boosted a player's defense and was patched soon after.
In Patch 6.3, much of the dungeon was overhauled. The battles with Gyascutus and Nidhogg were completely changed; in the latter, Estinien is part of Duty Support instead of an NPC, and Niddhogg's ultimate, Massacre, is withstood via a normal DPS race against a "Nidhogg's rancor" gauge.
