The Abyssal Fracture is a Trial in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker added in patch 6.5 "Growing Light". It is a battle against Zeromus.
Story[]
Normal[]
'Twas only when the Ascians' god was brought low, its remnants dispersed into aether, that Golbez could piece together his plan. In the red moon's answer to the Cradle of Darkness did he use that aether to birth the dread voidsent Zeromus, which, driven by Azdaja's longing to return home, is now poised to break the barrier between worlds. And so the Warrior of Light stands fast against the Darkness, a flickering beacon of hope. Should they fail, the Thirteenth's deliverance will prove the Source's destruction.

Extreme[]
Fueled by a yearning not its own, the voidsent Zeromus was poised to shatter the barrier between worlds. Its passage would be halted thanks in part to another denizen of the void, one who wielded splendorous Light to change both her fate and that of the Thirteenth. Yet what if Light's refulgence proved too great for this voidsent vagabond steeped in Darkness? Would aught else have stayed Zeromus's hand? These questions and more fuel the Wandering Minstrel's imagination as he weaves his benighted ballad, its measured tones calling your mind back to a most harrowing encounter.In-game description
Progression[]
Normal[]
Extreme[]
- Abyssal Nox: A raidwide that reduces the party's HP to 1 and inflicts Doom, that can only be cleansed by healing to full HP. Also causes two waves circular AOEs in fixed patterns.
- Sable Thread: A multi-hit line stack, where Tanks need to be in front of the party to absorb the majority of the damage.
- Dark Matter: Tankbuster, targets both tanks for three hits.
- Visceral Whirl: Sweeps the arena with claws, leaving only two triangular safe spots. Afterwards, three crosses appear, that leave only two safe spots.
- Flare: Brings two stack-marked towers. After, these causes line AOEs in random directions.
- Void Bio: Generates a number of poison bubbles, that inflict a DoT and Vulnerability Up-debuff.
- Big Bang: During the cast targets every player with a personal AOE along with several AOEs on the ground, culminating in a raidwide that inflicts a number of debuffs:
- HP Penalty: Reduces players max HP by 1/3.
- Damage over-time debuff to every player
- Acceleration Blast: Damages the player if they perform actions or move as the timer runs out.
- Forked Lightning: Two DPS is targeted with this. They must not be stacked with other players as its timer runs out.
- A lightning stack on a Healer, that resolves at the same time as the Forked Lightning debuff.
- Void Meteor: Brings down a number of meteors. After, two meteor waves come, targeting either all Supports or DPS first, the second wave targets the roles the first didn't. The waves form tethers, that need to be stretched, but they cannot make contact with meteors, or it causes a wipe. If the tether isn't stretched enough, it causes instant KO. All the meteors explode after the waves.
- Black Hole: Targets a random player with a blue mark, that spawns an expanding black hole which causes instant KO to any player caught by it.
- Fractured Eventide: Shoots a continuous beam of dark energy, that circles a 135-degree arc, either from left to right or vice versa.
- Big Crunch: Same as Big Bang, but it dispels the HP Penalty, and only inflicts the DoT-debuff.
- Binding/Sparking Flare: Same as Flare, but with two additional effects:
- Nox: Two players are targeted with a baitable AOE, that follows them for four hits.
- Explosions occur depending, whether the Flare is Binding or Sparking. Binding explosion must be taken in pairs, while Sparking targets each player.
- Rend the Rift: Raidwide. Activates after Zeromus' HP falls below 25%.
- Nostalgia: Raidwide
- Flow of the Abyss: Generates a straight line AoE from the left and does one out of three possibilities:
- Targets healer with a stack mark.
- Targets either all supports or DPS with a pair marker. Form pairs to resolve.
- Targets every player with a personal multi-hit AOE. Once set, move out of it.
- Chasmic Nails: Generates conal AoEs in a random pattern and begins wildly slashing at the arena. Inflicts clensable DoT and Vulnerability Up.
- Second Big Bang at 11:30 minute is the enrage.
Musical themes[]
Two tracks play during the trial: the track "FINAL FANTASY IV: The Final Battle (Endwalker)", a remix of "The Final Battle" from Final Fantasy IV, plays for most of the encounter; while the track "The Red Wings (Endwalker)", a remix of "The Red Wings" from the same game, begins playing after the boss has cast Rend the Rift.
