The Testudo is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Stats[]

Battle[]

Testudo has a lot of HP and has a relatively high stagger threshold for the area in which it appears. It can Issue Orders to its ally Scutari, allowing them to become more powerful. Should its last Scutari ally be killed, it will use Deployment, summoning another three Scutari, which obtain the Version Upgrade enhancement. It can also use Deployment before the last Scutari is killed, but only one at a time. This can lead to too many enemies on the targeting list to be displayed simultaneously, and since the Testudo remains first on the list, its name can be obscured.

Strategy[]

Testudo should be killed first. The player may wish to build the chain gauge with Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) to increase the damage dealt to the target and ideally staggering it.

Paradigm Pack[]

An Early Peaker, Testudo is a cheap and early opportunity for a monster at maximum level, adequate if not ideal for finishing the main story. At max level it has around 7000 HP, close to the highest HP of all Synergists and more than three times as much as the player's likely first Sentinel, Pulse Knight.

Without infusion the only spells Testudo learns are Bravery, Bravega, Faith, and Faithga, all of which are unavailable to Serah and Noel. This degree of focus is rare. Testudo is useful any time there are no elemental weaknesses, making En-spells useless and it never casts spells that may not be needed, like Veil.

The Mechanical monster materials it requires to level are somewhat rarer than biological, and it begins at Grade 3 materials. An alternative source of Bravega and Faithga is Yakshini, which is biological, starts at Grade 2 materials, and learns those spells at roughly the same level.
