Tenzen is a historical character from Final Fantasy XIV. He was a samurai who helped the Four Lords to seal Koryu in the past.
His name and appearance allude to the samurai of the same name from Final Fantasy XI. The tales of his adventures provided by Suzaku, Byakko, Genbu and Seiryu imply that Tenzen may have been blessed with the Echo and the ability to understand animals.
There is also the less likely but not impossible alternative that Tenzen was a previous incarnation of the Warrior of Light, as Suzaku (though under emotional duress at the time) has difficulty in telling the two apart during a confrontation, and the Four Lords all note similarity with the player character to Tenzen.
