The Tekken series is a fighting game series developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment which has featured multiple guest characters from the Final Fantasy series.
Relations to Final Fantasy[]
Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring[]
Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring was directed and designed by Tekken series creator Seiichi Ishii under his new video game development company, DreamFactory. Ehrgeiz was announced as the first project to result from a licensing agreement allowing Square to develop games for Namco's Namco System 12 arcade board, and Final Fantasy VII characters such as Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, Vincent Valentine, and Red XIII were included as guest characters for the PlayStation release due to Square acting as publisher.
Tekken 7[]
Noctis Lucis Caelum, the main character of Final Fantasy XV, serves as a guest character in Tekken 7 as the third DLC character. He was first revealed during the 2017 Tekken World Tour finals and was released on March 20, 2018. Alongside Noctis, Hammerhead is included as a downloadable stage as Noctis' "home" stage. Ignis Scientia, Gladiolus Amicitia, Prompto Argentum, Cid Sophiar and Cindy Aurum including a few Chocobo all make cameo appearances in the background of this stage.
Tekken 8[]
Clive Rosfield, the main character of Final Fantasy XVI, serves as a guest character in Tekken 8 as the final DLC Character for it's first season of DLC. He was first revealed at the Game Awards in 2024. Torgal appears as part of Clive's moveset, with Phoenix Gate being included as a downloadable stage as Clive's "home" stage.
As part of the collaboration, other Final Fantasy XVI themed items are available from the in-game shop:
- A collaboration pack, titled "Joshua Rosfield" is available for 500 Tekken Coins. Included in the pack is the "Undying Red" outfit for Leo Kliesen, based on Joshua Rosfield, as well as a red Bomb King ball for Tekken Ball and Nektar the Bold as player customization.
- A collaboration pack, titled "Jill Warrick" is available for 500 Tekken Coins. Included in the pack is the "Icy Blue" outfit for Emilie "Lili" de Rochefort, based on Jill Warrick, as well as a blue Bomb King ball for Tekken Ball and the "Clive" avatar skin for Arcade Quest mode.
Prior to the game's release, Tifa Lockhart was a highly requested guest character to the point where the game's producer, Katsuhiro Harada, addressed fan interest in the inclusion.[1]
Notes[]
- ↑ Early entries' console ports would often be published by console manufacturers overseas, such as Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, or under particular publishing labels such as Namco Hometek. In arcades, and with the global market becoming more focused with later entries, publishing duties eventually shifted to the developer, Bandai Namco (née Namco).
