Chief Antagonist[]

Isn't Vayne the one who does everything? As far as I know, Cid is Vaynes subordinate (Okay, I'm not sure who Venat is but I'm pretty sure he isn't as improtant to the conflict as Vayne).--Werefang 21:23, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

He's the Kefka of FFXII. Kinda. Not really. He's the games main antagonist, most other people are below him. He is the games chief antagonist.  ILHI 21:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Vayne is the bad guy throughout the entire game - from start to finish. Venat and Cid are just subordinates, really. --BlueHighwind 21:32, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Kefka, Sephiroth, Ultimecia and Sin are all the main antagonists of their games according to their articles. I can argue the same case, that there were other people. (okay, maybe not Ulti and Kefka because that was all one long "I iz controlling you, now I iz controlling you" thing and because Gestahl did little) --Also JENOVA states she is one of the main antagonists, yet Sephiroth says he is the main antagonist. Yu Yevon's article also says he is the main antagonist, though Sin's says the same. It's all crazy.  ILHI 21:46, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Vayne's other brothers[]

Does it actually state anywhere during the game that Grammis ordered Vayne to kill his other brothers? If so, could someone please tell me at about what point in the game this fact is revealed. If not, from where exactly does this information stem?

At one point in the game Gramis is in a meeting with the senate and the senate opposes Vayne to become the next emperor, and wants Larsa instead. It goes on to talk how Larsa has been working behind the scenes behind Vayne's back and Gramis says Larsa is innocent, but then senate reminds Gramis:
"What matter? Lord Vayne himself once saw his elder brothers brought to like justice, did he not? At Your Excellency’s behest, as I recall."
Later when Drace talks with Zargabaath she says: "Vayne took two of his own brothers’ lives. He is ruthless beyond contempt." Zargabaath replies that Vayne is the best candidate for next Emperor because he doesn't mind cutting down traitors even if they are of his blood. Drace replies: "Zargabaath, what of you? Surely you do not believe…his brothers were traitors." To which Zargabaath replies: "So found His Excellency, Lord Gramis. You would do well to mind your tongue, Drace. That matter is long past."
So Gramis accused of his sons of being traitors and had Vayne kill them. My theory is that Gramis was paranoid that the son next in line to the throne would be willing to murder him so he could assume the throne faster. Whether this was really true or he was just paranoid is another thing though, Drace doesn't seem to think they were traitors.Keltainentoukokuu 14:24, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
