Just out of curiosity, is a Tweet reliable as a source? Because we've had this problem before for the first Dissidia, as far as I know. TheBlueDragoon 21:47, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Scratch that. I'm not thinking straight today. TheBlueDragoon 21:48, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
It is definitely reliable. I don't see why a professional voice actor who starred in frigging FF12 would lie. Besides, the dates are in line with JD Cullum (Kuja)'s statements that the English voices were all recorded this summer. Could you tell me what the problems with Twitter were for the first / bDissidia? Fresh Prince of Bel Air 21:50, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: Okay it's settled I guess :) Fresh Prince of Bel Air 21:51, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Why the hell a page for him is already made? This is worst then Tifa's page, we have nothing for him yet! No artwork, images or moves! This should more deleted now! NeoZEROX 21:50, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

"We had not but 2 screen shots from the closed theater when the Tifa profile was made. vaans announcment fetures his art work, alt costume, EX Burst, and screen shot of his story involving him talking to Terra. im pretty sure that he qualifys for his own article now." Ixbran 19:03, November 10, 2010 (UTC)
True, but it isn't it better to have it link to the relating page than use his FFXII article? Jeffrey oBartz Overworld Spriter SSFF6B 21:53, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
No, no it isn't. Subpages for Dissidia should only exist when there's something to put in them. We have nothing here to say. Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:55, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Tifa's page shouldn't have been done either. But again, why should the hyped fanwank wait? - Henryacores^ 21:56, November 10, 2010 (UTC)

Come on already, what the hell's the difference anyway?! This is just a wiki, not some ultra-reliable encyclopaedia. Nothing wrong happened with pages for Kain, Tifa or Lightning and nothing will happen with this page. The thing is: Vaan is now an officially confirmed character, more details will be revealed in this week's Famitsu, or on Dissidia 012 official site, so soon more info will appear here, on this page. There is no difference whether the page will be created now (in this case, some time ago), or the moment we will know all about Vaan, or any other character. It's that, this is now the best page to keep all the info about Vaan, even if it is not reliable, or likely to change. THE NEWS ARE ALSO INFORMATION!!! SquallisbetterthanCloud 22:34, November 10, 2010 (UTC)

I hate square. they said they would include characters who are popular but almost everybody hates Vaan. Why not Balthier? I'll boycott dissidia 012, even if they would include a bikini outfit for Tifa!

Stupid, Vaan, in terms of popularity is like Squall- only Americans don't like them. From what I know, They are both popular in Europe and (What's most important) in Japan. Don't think, that because you don't like Vaan, he has to be not liked everywhere. I didn't like Vaan much, because for me Basch was the hero of FFXII, but I'm not shouting that Vaan is crap and because of that D012 will be crap. That's just plain stupid. Vaan was an obvious choice from the beginning and no weeping of his antifans could change it. SquallisbetterthanCloud 13:07, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
I like Vaan. Go Vaan. He didn't do much in FFXII but see if that's a problem then here's a second chance to make him relevant in Dissidia then. ;) I like Vaan's voice. The voice they chose for Squall's voice in Dissidia really bugs me, because a big part of his character is that he is just a 17-year-old kid who hasn't really got a clue what the hell he is doing and the "tides of fate" force him to take the role of leader and stuff before he is really emotionally ready. But then they give him this gruff man voice. Like they think a teenage voice needs to be high-pitched and boyish, like Zidane or Onion Knight. Vaan's got a good teen voice that isn't like from the muppets.Keltainentoukokuu 17:44, November 11, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu

Ok, Squallisbetterthancloud, I apologize for being such a whiny bitch and you're right, just cause he's in doesn't mean D012 will be gash. But I think I'll not purchase it anyway, mainly cause I'm bored with the old dissidia and I don't think that things like the assist mode will be that innovating. oh and by the way, I'm European and everyone I know playing ff12 hates vaan too. nuff said.

I'm European too and I'll agree there is defiantly a certain dislike for Vaan amongst us, however you have to consider that including Basch instead, would mean that too characters have pretty much the same fighting style,(him and Gabranth) and using Balthier is no good as he has no real connection to Gabranth. Ashe only has the connection to Gabranth via Dalamasca and the Empire, which Dissida tends not to mention details like that. So Vaan's a clear choice because he has the excuse, "you killed my brother and had my home turned into a controlled slum!".SandS Hero 13:18, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

Alt Costume Weapon

Does anyone know what sword Vaan is wielding in his alternate costume's artwork? It looks very much like the first sword from this picture, but that sword, whatever it is, doesn't actually seem to be on the weapons page for Final Fantasy XII at all. Was it just a concept art or something, ultimately unused for the final game but brought back for this alternate costume? Teamrocketspy621 23:08, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

It's the Claymore isn't it?
Keltainentoukokuu 01:04, November 19, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu
Yeah, it looks like that, but for some reason, the guard looks different. Maybe the image of the Claymore is just too blurry for me to see it properly. :\ Teamrocketspy621 02:21, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
Heres a clear-er [[:File:Great swords.jpg|picture of the Claymore]], actual hand-drawn art work. its the sword in the upper left corner of the image. so yea, thats the Claymore in his Alt Costume artwork. Ixbran 07:27, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

North American Site updated

The North American site is now showing Vaan. His battle concept is called an Adroit Attacker apparently. You may find it here.

Battle Box's

i was thinking, since all of Vaans BP attacks are both have Ground and Air versions, instead of:

Move Type CP (Mastery) AP Obtained Description Image
Greatsword Ground TBA TBA TBA 120px
Greatsword Aerial TBA TBA TBA 120px

we do this instead

Move Type CP (Mastery) AP Obtained Description Image
Greatsword Ground

This will save up space on the page.

Ixbran 03:30, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

No. AP varies throughout the several attacks that are both aerial and ground. EDIT But more importantly, the level they're learned varies more. - Henryacores^ 03:41, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

We had the same issue with Kuja, Ultimecia, and (somehow) Kefka before. It didn't get done then, and I doubt it'll happen now. Dazuro 03:46, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

Also, the cherry on top of the cake: Flare. And Gabranth has attacks that have both aerial and ground versions and others that don't. Not to mention their very in-game names vary and that's taken into account here. All that rounded up and the rule of consistency makes it that we split the whole movesets.

oh okay then, but if it turns out that the AP and CP turn out to be the same, will it be okay to fuse them then? Ixbran 03:53, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

No. Read again. - Henryacores^ 03:56, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

Think of it this way--even if the attacks are completely identical in function, AP, level, etc., they still have to be equipped separately and used in different conditions. Dazuro 04:01, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

Vaans wepons images?

hey, um i noticed that for the other dissidia fighters, you have the in game images of there normal/ EX wepon they weild in Dissidia, iwas woundering if we can get the images of what vaans wepons look like, just the wepons themselves. like how lightings gunblade, and leons gunblade and lionheart is in there dissdia image gallerySamusAran201 17:35, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

I tried, but the model that I have doesn't have all his weapons. DoreikuKuroofangu 18:02, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

what ever weapons you can get are fine,SamusAran201 18:04, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

Well if we can't get all of them there's not much we can do is there? We can't give each weapon its own image, we'd have to go the way of Firion and use one image to show them all. DoreikuKuroofangu 18:13, February 24, 2011 (UTC)
ok, thats fineSamusAran201 18:18, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

hey, im not trying to be a jerk here, and im not trying to sound like a ass or an anoying creep, but everyone has a image of there weapon in there gallery, now i understand that you cant get them all, but just putting vaans mythril sword and the EX form of his mythril sword is fine, i think that vaan should maybe just have one in game image of one of his weapons in norma and ex form, is that too much? cause if it is ill shut up for goodSamusAran201 02:08, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

Victory pose

Do we know if he uses one or are there more? Because I've seen a video which uses his victory pose when equipped with a Greatsword from FFXII. ZodiarkMaster 21:58, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

EDIT: never mind.

The new V-jump has a trading card for Vaan's piratey pirate costume, using the Tactics-style art. Don't know if you guys cover stuff like that, though.(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ (ಠ_ೃ)Bully!

02:21, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

vaan looks like he got some soap and washed the dirt off his face. he looks so much better than he did in ffxii. i bet he's better all around. thank you dissidia 012 for redeeming the broken promise of vaan, and i can't wait to play this.danny5357

Scratching the Nose

While I haven't playd D012, I noticed an image in the gallery where Vaan is scratching his nose which seems to be based on Ashe's official CG where she's pointing her nose. Is it some kind of allusion?—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 08:40, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
