About Tiamat's gender in FF9...[]

Didn't Steiner and/or Vivi at one point refer to this one as a male?

- Maybe so, but that doesn't mean Steiner and/or Vivi actually know it's gender. Tiamat is generally thought of as a female because she is inspired by the goddess (and her name's not a pun like Shiva(h)'s ). 62.212.142.73 23:47, December 30, 2013 (UTC)IsaWP

There is no confirmation. The general standard in this case would probably be to use "It." Tia-Lewise 23:51, December 30, 2013 (UTC)
True and yes, here we could use 'it" as we are talking about a fictional monster, although it is frowned on as an alternative to 'he' and 'she' for characters and in real life. I made the article gender-neutral. 62.212.142.73 03:36, January 16, 2014 (UTC)IsaWP
How is there no confirmation? We know from the dialogue that at least the Wind Guardian is male, so it seems safe to assume this incarnation of Tiamat is too. 65.92.72.235 22:56, March 12, 2015 (UTC)
"Safe to assume" is not a literal confirmation, though.-- Technobliterator TC 23:00, March 12, 2015 (UTC)
Um... Shouldn't we use singular they? I think it's a more encyclopedic approach that using "it", although in Quina's case we should still use "he/she" since this is how they're referred as such in the English version.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 23:40, March 12, 2015 (UTC)
No, because it isn't a person. It's an "it". JBed (talk) 00:48, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
It pretty much is a confirmation though. Because Tiamat is the Wind Guardian. "Tiamat, here referred to as Wind Guardian". JBed (talk) 00:48, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
