Which one was it who fought Starscourge 2,000 years ago and made covenants with Astrals, Ardyn or this guy?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:14, March 6, 2018 (UTC)

I could be wrong, but I believe Ardyn was erased from history. Somnus took credit for everything his brother did. - The Final Fantasy Nameless Stalwart / False Heretic 00:46, March 12, 2018 (UTC)
I think it must be that Ardyn failed at it first and became the host for Starscourge, then Astrals turned to Somnus instead. When Ardyn was doing it he was just "a great healer" (his own words), whereas the king who expelled Starscourge is said to have actually fought it with the Armiger and the Astrals. Being healers was then never again a thing for the lineage.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 02:45, March 12, 2018 (UTC)
There is in-game dialogue to suggest both lines of thinking. - The Final Fantasy Nameless Stalwart / False Heretic 02:48, March 12, 2018 (UTC)
Some of those leaks you sometimes hear about supposedly posits in earlier drafts Ardyn was supposed to be both Nox Fleuret (healers) and Lucis Caelum (Armiger dudes), but who knows how that would work. He never talks about having had help from an Oracle, but maybe they were given power only after Ardyn was deemed a failure. The sigils of the old kings seem to contain each one's special power and Somnus's is like a super version of Armiger.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 03:33, March 12, 2018 (UTC)

The True Accursed[]

Last year I had this theory that either Somnus or Bahamut is the true overarching villain of the FFXV Universe, and so far, that theory is proving to be at least mostly correct. Bahamut is at least a passive true villain for letting Somnus do the horrible things he did, and making Ardyn Izunia take the fall. The outcome is likely to change in "Dawn of the Future", which brings us to this other theory I recently have, that after the original ending, any one or all of Noctis' friends eventually uncover the true history of the Lucian Kings and some how pull a "Days of Future Past" to set things right, possibly leading up to a final showdown between Noctis and Somnus the True Accursed.

Actually, it looks like my original theory about Bahamut was right. Bahamut, with his newly revealed disrespect for human life, turns out to have a Palpatine/Darth Vader relationship with Somnus, as what I've heard from new plot details released about the novel, since Somnus finally realized he was seduced by the false light and helps caused the evil dragon's death, to redeem himself. For a while, I just though Square Enix was trying to avoid rehashing aspects of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Talk about irony.

Better Profile Picture for Human[]

Somnus has appeared in both an anime and in the game, I think we can do better for a profile picture than a pencil-drawn sketch of the guy. –Nahald (talk) 02:26, April 24, 2019 (UTC)

If you find a preferable one you can replace it. I put this one in the box because I thought it showed what he looked like from all angles in a good way, as there is no official render of him to use otherwise. If using a screenshot I think it should be from his "true" appearance and not from an Ardyn hallucination.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 02:33, April 26, 2019 (UTC)

Rohmaji name for his Blade of the Mystic on his page via the data box[]

It should be "Yasha'ō no Tōken". --SneaselSawashiro (talk) 08:40, January 9, 2020 (UTC)
