I think the ages for either Sabin, Edgar or both are incorrect, considering that the FF wiki says that they are both 27! It clearly states in the game that Sabin is a lot younger than Edgar.
- It may be wrong. But aren't they twins though? I forget. --Auron Kaizer 00:54, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Crazyswordsman - Final Fantasy VI, because Drake says he wants to link to FF7 every day, which is bad because that game is so far inferior to FF6. TALK - 00:56, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
"Edgar's TWIN brother, who traded the throne for his own freedom."
There we go. I'd really like to see where it is CLEARLY STATED that Edgar's twin is younger than him.
Well, it is actually CLEARLY STATED when Sabin is met, in Mt Kolts... Here's the dialogue :
Edgar: Sabin!!!
Sabin: Big brother?
Locke: The brothers are reunited!
Terra: Younger... "brother?" At first glance I thought he was some body builder who had strayed from his gym...
Clear enough ?!

Anomaly in his Battle Power[]
Ok Vigor or the Hyper Wrist seem to give an unstated boost to Sabin's fight damage (I know I know he should be spamming Blitzes)but I tested against the same foe with and without the Hyper Wrist the changes in damage (not including criticals) was noticeable sometimes doing double the damage with it equppied, is this an anomaly or intended?
Vigor boosts physical damage just like magic power boosts magic damage. (Well, the formula's better for magic, but you get the point.)
Ah thankyou I was just at a loss since Vigor was included in the stats article and I was under the assumption it still behaved as it did in FFIV and FFV affecting health gain on leveling up.Big B 11:27, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Fanon?[]
Where is the source for all of this stuff about "Stewart" Figaro, the orphan mother, and Sabin's genetic condition? I don't remember hearing about any of that in the game--is there a canon source for all of this? I'm going to remove it for now since it looks like pure fanfic to me.

Its from Soraya Saga's little bit of doujinshi she wrote about the Figaro backstory. Of course, she makes sure to mention at the start of it that it is "not canon". And she wrote it completely independently with the rest of the FFVI development team and without any of their permission, so I say it shouldn't be included.
She created Sabin and Edgar in the first place so whose permission would she need? Anyway if this isn't canon then a lot of other FFVI characters's backstories are not canon either. Moguta 11:01, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Pronunciation[]
How is "Sabin" pronounced? I've been calling him "Say-bin". 67.188.45.206 05:54, March 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Like "cabin" but with an "S"., sab-bin. I actually have no idea, but that's how I pronounce it. 79.69.194.12 12:22, March 8, 2012 (UTC)
Moved[]
Why was this moved? 79.69.203.84 13:56, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Because it was misnamed. - 18:33, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Misnamed how? "Sabin Rene Figaro" is just as official as "Sabin René Figaro". Except unless Sabin has appeared in a new game in the NA since the Advance release of FFVI, naming policy states it is "Sabin Rene Figaro". 79.69.203.84 20:10, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
- The article never refers to Rene outside Trivia, Development or romanizations of his english name, which are sections with smaller canon weight. The pagename should be consistent with the most prominent nomenclature of the subject, which is refered to in the introduction paragraph (and in this case, the infobox). - Henryacores^ 20:38, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Then the article should be changed, not the page name. The article content isn't what matters, we use North American names over European names. Rene-with-an-accent only occurs in the European release's ending. It is exactly the same case for Celes.
- In other words revert the move. Start a discussion on changing the naming policy after if you want, but revert the move. 79.69.203.84 20:45, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
Sabin's beard[]
Soraya Saga just revealed on Twitter a tiny piece of information about Sabin's beard in-game disappearance. This is her official Twitter account and she worked as a character design in FFVI, but I'm not sure if it can be used as a source. Feel free to add it if anyone think it has some relevance, I won't be doing it myself.

Macías[]
I'm curious if this is actually written in a publication anywhere. I have seen the Memorial Ultimania write "Masshu (Mashiasu)·Rene·Figaro" (in katakana) and next to it in Latin text "Mash Rene Figaro", and all other places seem to just write "Mash Rene Figaro" or "Mash Figaro" when writing his full name in Latin text.
I've checked The Complete, Settai Shiryō-hen, Memorial Ultimania, Final Fantasy Art Museum, and the Japanese game in SNES and iOS. I haven't checked Figaro no Kekkon, although I wish I could. JBed (talk) 21:53, June 22, 2017 (UTC)
Just wondering though, doesn't the katakana translate to MATTHIAS (MATTHEW) instead of these MASSHU MASH MASHIASU MACHIAS gobbledygook? 123.136.64.35 09:24, March 31, 2018 (UTC)
- So yes?? マシアス could be Matthias or Macías. However, his name in Japanese editions of the game is always written in Japanese as マッシュ and in Latin-text as "Mash". Many people believe that the people who created the official Latin names didn't consult the people who actually came up with the names originally, and they use that to try and say Mash is just wrong because they were going for Matthias.
- But we don't know that. If his nickname is "Mash" rather than "Math", then his full name is more logically "Macías" rather than "Matthias". JBed (talk) 17:10, March 31, 2018 (UTC)
