Confused[edit source]

Some Color Mage / Talk Contribs / Let's Stream Random PS4 Crap. / No time. I don't really care.
With the exeption of FF11, Life and Raise are interchangeable, as are Full Life, Life 2 and Arise. I don't pretend to know FF11 magic mechanics, I just know it's different.

They don't belong here![edit source]

I don't care what you guys think, the versions of Raise of FFT, FFXII, FFXII RW and FFTA2 don't belong here they only belong only the Life page. Zolo6

Merging... Again[edit source]

Life should cover whatever recent version uses them: I'd say VII, VIII, IX and X, and TA. But I dunno, we must also mention that Life was the former translation for Raise. —BLUER一番 13:26, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I reverted it, because we need to figure out what "Life" and "Raise" should serve. Discuss. —BLUER一番 13:41, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

What? Under that logic "Fire 1" and all the rest of that funky bunch should all get articles because FFVII still uses the number system. The sequels all change to the "ra-ga" system. Its worth noting that Crisis Core does the same for "Life", making it "Raise". These are one spell, they should not have two pages (except for Tactic Advanced which fucks everything up). --BlueHighwind 18:41, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay. —BLUER一番 11:57, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Name[edit source]

It needs to be called something else if there is another Raise ability. Tricky since they both revive though. I'd almost keep this as "Raise" and put in the intro that there is an upgrade sometimes also called Raise called Arisen...but guess that's not by the book.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 00:40, April 12, 2016 (UTC)

"Raise (Life 1)" would work for a short tag. It is the level 1 Life spell after all. For a longer tag "Raise (first-tier revive ability)".
The bigger issue right now is that the disambig doesn't really help anyone. JBed (talk) 01:43, April 12, 2016 (UTC)
I was thinking (base revival ability), or something along those lines. Not sure Life 1 is obvious for everyone.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:42, April 12, 2016 (UTC)
I prefer the "(base revival ability)" tag. I'm against the usage of a tag like "Life 1" since that has not been used since 2002 as a spell name and iirc Life 1 was only in FF1 (PSX) and 4 (SNES/PSX). Also the "first-tier revive ability" tag will not work due to some games not having an upgraded version of Raise. --Miphares (talk) 19:42, April 12, 2016 (UTC)
The only purpose of a tag is to distinguish it from other things with the same name. "Raise (Life 1)" cannot refer to the Raise that is "Arisen", therefore it works as a tag.
Though on the disambig we do need to explain it in a way that is obvious for everyone. "Raise, also known as Life 1", won't work. Our assumptions about how people get to the Raise page are that they get from an internal link, or they got to the "Raise" disambig, and the Raise page will make it clear which one they refer to.
But for a tag, an alternate name that doesn't apply to the other is distinguishing enough. Bonus points because "Life 1" still implies it's the base revive spell.
With all that said, I don't really have a preference though. JBed (talk) 19:56, April 12, 2016 (UTC)
