Rename to Ninjutsu, folks?
Yes. | |||
Agreed. However, I think Ninjutsu (Final Fantasy IV) might be more appropriate.
Why? Do we have another Ninjutsu to refer to in the series?
Oops, thought the Ninjas in FFT had Ninjutsu.
Spell Names[]
Technically speaking it's against policy to use the most recurring and/or recent names, but the six elemental Ninjutsu should have consistent names. Do we want to do with Flame-Flood-Blitz-Tremor-Gale-Frost, or Katon-Suiton-Raijin/Raiton-Doton-Huton-Hyoton? Or do we not care and want to leave them as-is listed on the page? And to open a can of worms, if we switch to the English names for consistency, as Blitz has done, Tremor and Flame ought to be tagged as Ninjutsu to differentiate them from the abilities with the same name that are otherwise unrelated. Doreiku Kuroofangu 18:11, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
- Well, if it was up to me, the Elemental Ninjutsu from XI wouldn't even be classified with the other elemental ninjutsu. Different names, different purposes. I see no reason to keep them together, myself. Leaving that aside, if you were to pick one set of names to go with the ninjutsu, I would say the names that don't all have -ton in them, because, again, not a prominent part of ninjutsu at large. - On FF11, only the wind and lightning ones are different - FF11 and FFAB use Raiton and Huton while FF4 and Dimensions use Raijin and Fuujin. So there would be the issue of which to use, but Katon, Suiton, Doton and Hyoton are consistently used for the fire, water, earth and ice Ninjutsu. FFTA goes with Wood, Metal, Fire, Water and Earth, but the latter three are still Katon, Suiton, Doton. Doreiku Kuroofangu 18:29, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Hmm...a tricky one, that this is. I'd say stick with the English names per say, having the (Ninjutsu) tag at the end.
Right then, once I'm done making appropriate pages for the Ninjutsu template, I'll look at making the pages on the English names unless anyone has objections. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:51, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Just wondering[]
Maybe it's my fault, or the games didn't make it clear, but...what exactly separates Ninjutsu from Black Magic? Is it literally just "Black Magic that Ninjas use"? Is there any difference at all regarding any difference in spell other than name? To me, I'm curious because it seems like there must be at least something different. I don't feel kike the article explains that much, other than Rosa's quote which gives no detail at all. It feels like a brief sentence or two should cut it.-- Technobliterator TC 01:21, May 5, 2014 (UTC)
- Well, I know in IV Ninjutsu target all. JBed (talk) 01:42, May 5, 2014 (UTC)
- Not really sure, although Drake could probably explain it since he handled most of the Ninjutsu pages. --Shockstorm 01:55, May 5, 2014 (UTC)
- It's pretty much just a separate school of magic. There's some damaging Ninjutsu, some healing, and some status. In terms of story I've no idea how it works, Rosa's explanation is all we have to go on. Drake Clawfang (talk) 01:57, May 5, 2014 (UTC)
- Right, I tried to explain that on the page (top part), hope that was good?-- Technobliterator TC 13:38, May 5, 2014 (UTC)
- Ninjutsu doesn't have to be a magic. All Ninja skills are ninjutsu, such as smoke bomb and mirage. Monterossa (talk) 07:35, May 7, 2014 (UTC)
- Different games classify magic differently. For example, Haste is Black Magic in I and II, White Magic in III, IV and X and Time Magic in V, XII and Tactics, while Aero is White Magic in III, Blue Magic in V and VI and Black Magic in XII. (Also, it's worth noting that the thought bubble represents Rosa's first impression of ninjutsu, and she already suspects that it isn't quite the same thing.) -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 08:59, May 8, 2014 (UTC)
