Page links to Penance. Penance page is FFX boss. Does the Penance page need to be disambiguated or does we need to remove link from here? ILHI 11:50, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Disambigs are only to be created when there's another page of the same name. At the time of writing, it isn't....yet. If one is to create a page of the same name, then the disambig is to be created. If not, the link is to be removed.
Penance (ability)
So it exists, but we've not disambiguated. ILHI 11:55, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
/DNC[]
I'm honestly surprised /DNC isn't listed as a subjob here; having solo'd monk with /DNC from about 35-46, I can say, without a doubt, that it's an excellent subjob for monk, as well as a common one for soloists.
Table Format[]
The format of the tables on this page is not consistent with official table policy. However, I believe that they demonstrate a form of aesthetic cohesion which is beneficial to the wiki. The idea is for spell list tables to match spell infoboxes. When a user clicks on one of these FFXI spell tables she is taken directly to another page with a spell infobox that uses the same visual style. This creates continuity between articles that is quite profound. Go ahead and try it! Of course, these spell tables need to match the other tables on the page and then the other classes in the game need to match the mages... and here we find ourselves with the monk! The existing policy—the pages for which I've read—concerns itself with cohesion between data-bearing tables across the wiki. This comes at the cost of alignment with the infoboxes and navigation templates which live alongside this data. When we look at the monk article, how can we not desire that its ability tables match its navigation template? These are elements on the same page. A random visitor may never notice any tables but these. If anything is to be visually concordant with anything else, it must be here at the most local level. It's never too late to consider a new approach to aesthetics. My hope is that demonstrating this connection between nav templates, tables, and infoboxes will prod the wiki toward a stronger visual design. I'm fairly confident that browsing these job pages and experiencing the increased harmony between elements makes its own argument, though this specific implementation could still be improved. In truth, I've been waiting for weeks for somebody to take issue with these table layouts so that the conversation could begin! Some of these job tables used to be entirely purple so I suppose it's not a very popular topic in any case.
I see your reasoning now, but having been away for weeks, didn't pick the changes up. The last time this was discussed was a while ago in Forum:Table Consistencies and Forum:Table Colors and Common css. I think that it would be better to change one table - the spell infobox - than to make an entire game different from the rest. However, you're free to discuss it with the rest of the community, who might decide to overturn the previous decision. Unfortunately, FFXI is rather overlooked, so it's best to take it to the Forums.
