So remember how I told you before about how the (second and third) kanji SE use for Mage isn't actually the normal kanji used for the word but is still pronounced the same?

Well T4HoL played on that. 道士のローブ is the "Monk Robe", 導師のローブ is the "Monkish Garb". They're both pronounced どうしのローブ [Dōshi no Rōbu]. :)

As for the others:

  • 魔道士のローブ Madōshi no Rōbu - FF4TAY (Mage's Robe), FFTA (Magus Robe), FFTA2 (Magus Robe), FFD (Diviner's Robe)
  • まどうしのローブ [hiragana form of above] - FF4:EasyType (Sage's Surplice: originally しさいのローブ)
  • メイジローブ Meiji Rōbu - FFXI (Mage's Robe), FF12RW (Mage's Robes)

Don't know what FFXIV's section is about. There's Battlemage's Robe but that's not the same. JBed (talk) 11:14, February 22, 2017 (UTC)

Well, the difference between the two robes in T4HoL is the same as the difference between Wizard's Staff and High Mage's Staff.

Although I did say we can't tell whether どうしのローブ is an appearance of 道士のローブ or an appearance of 導師のローブ, thanks to FFRK we actually can (it refers to 導師のローブ).

But since unlike High Mage's Staff, 道士のローブ only has a single appearance, it should stay on here for now (as it's a parody/reference to 導師のローブ). I'll add a note about the names after the page gets dealt with. JBed (talk) 22:57, February 22, 2017 (UTC)
