Freeing Prince Luzaf Edit

Interestingly enough, there is a way to free Prince Luzaf from the pact with Odin. See, after you defeat Odin Prime, you are offered a number of choices by the dark deity. If you choose the option 'The release of Thy knight', Odin will agree to the request but only if you agree to become his knight in Luzaf's place. If you do so -- the game has you answer yes twice in a row -- you'll be granted a cutscene with Prince Luzaf thanking you for granting him peace. You can also get additional cutscenes with Empress Nashmeira, the Galka Engineer Ghatsad, and the two automotons Mnejing and Ovjang. I've never played the game myself, due to lack of correct equipment and money, but I located a YouTube clip of these CS posted by a gamer who goes by the name of KokoroNoKawari. Here's a link to the clip to verify these facts: TaliesinKyoshi 07:23, March 18, 2011 (UTC)Taliesin-Kyoshi

Good to know. It's been a while since I quit the game, so I'm not familiar with any of the new content. I'll watch the video and look around for more info, then I'll add it into the article. Thanks for pointing this out! (Nilfalasiel 19:25, March 18, 2011 (UTC))

You're welcome. I'm glad that it's good enough to meet your approval. For the record, I'm not the person who posted the clip, but I'm really glad that they did. Out of curiosity - and for the purposes of clarification - would anything in this clip apply to the FFWiki page for Aphmau/Nashmeira? I never saw the cutscenes that occurred before the fight with Odin Prime, but the ones that include with Nashmeira seem to suggest that she deliberately had her mercenary - the player's character - go after Odin Prime both to free Luzaf and to gather more information on the spacial rip that Odin uses to enter Vana'diel. Well, during the final cutscenes of the Treasures of Aht Uhrgan storyline, Nashmeira says something along the lines of "I thank you (the player) for all you have done, and perhaps one day...", which could suggest that she wants to find a way to free Luzaf. I've been looking on YouTube for any other videos (prior to The Rider Cometh, which is the quest to fight Odin Prime the first time), but all I could find was footage of the battle and the chat with Odin afterwards. So I don't know what exactly Nashmeira asks of the player. But the cutscenes after you defeat Odin Prime and after you do free Luzaf strongly suggest that she did ask to find a way to free him. It would be good if someone who's still playing FFXI could confirm this. Nilfalasiel 10:31, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Is there any way to post a notice - either on this wiki or elsewhere - asking for a confirmation on these facts from anyone who has played this game? Or is that not possible due to reasons that escape me? Anyway, I've posted the link to the FFXIwiki page that covers the details of the TOAU quest (Unwavering Resolve) that lets you free Prince Luzaf below. It mentions that the quest starter - the person you speak to in order to activate your participation in the quest - is none other than Naja Salaheem of Salaheem's Sentinels but that the client who hires you is Empress Nashmeira herself, so it's possible that Her Highness is discreetly offering this mission to a specific mercenary - the player's character - in order to ensure that Prince Luzaf truly is freed. This page also has two links to video clips of the ending cutscenes of this quest, the first of which will show what Prince Luzaf's reaction will be if you pick the response "Because I felt like it," when he asks you why you freed him, and the second is pretty much a near perfect copy of the cutscenes featuring Ghatsad, Empress Nashmeira, Mnejing, and Ovjang. (Which may mean that no matter what you tell Prince Luzaf, you'll still receive the same ending cutscenes.) I hope it helps and thank you for taking this so seriously.

mmm. Nashmeira never directly asks the player no. It starts with you finding a talisman of the rebel gods for the automatons, then when u have it, you visit her in the palace, shes shocked cos shes looking for it, but its a contraband item and she has no idea why. Ghatsad comes in, explains that the talisman has a special purpose, it can be used as a key to access the deepest depths of Hazhalm, and was thus outlawed. He asks the place be sealed to prevent further danger from that place, but also to conduct an experiment, and kinda volunteers you as a mercenary when she refuses to risk the lives of her soldier (lol). Mnejing and Ovjang then kinda speak on her behalf, telling the player he knows the reason why she's investigating this. here's a screen grab: [1] --Spira 12:43, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

Better late than never: thanks a lot for the clarification, I've added the details to the article. Nilfalasiel 14:45, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
