I always assumed the Crystal Pillar was Hyne's body. It was the only way I could make sense of the game. That way, it's sort of like the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. --Galba 03:07, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
The crystal pillar article says that it was used to create the crater in Tribia, shouldn't that be mentioned here? Oni Dark Link
Crystal Pillar confusion[edit source]
Removed the bit about Centra Civilisation having discovered the Crystal Pillar and having triggered Lunar Cry by accident. It's not mentioned in the game and is contradicted in the official Final Fantasy VIII Ultimania guide (link in the article). If somebody has in-game/otherwise proof of the Centra Civilisation having used the Pillar, please restore the info, but mention where it's from.
