Angeal's biological father[]
Angeal said his father made him the Buster sword when he enrolled in Soldier. Does this mean it was Hollander (i doubt it) or does this mean that Gillian remarried and pretended that this new husband was Angeal's father. And how was Genisis infused with the cells, was Gillian his mother too or were her cells only injected in him after birth. Is Hollander also a biological father to Genesis or did Genesis's parents agree willingly for him to be used as an experiment by Hollander. Would that be the reason Genesis killed his parents and would hiding the true father and stuff from Angeal be a reason for Gillian to take her own life?
RE: Angeal's biological father[]
No, Angeal only ever knew 1 father, the un-named father who made him the Buster Sword.
Hollander, many years before the events of Crisis Core, performed one of the first (if not the 1st ever) Jenova Projects: Jenova Project G, G for Gillian. It would seem that Hollander abandoned Gillain, and so she lived a perfectly normal life, even though she knew that Genesis was living with other parents. Yes, Genesis' real birth mother was Gillian Hewley. It is either Genesis who came before Angeal, or the opposite way around. Genesis, due to being a failure to the Jenova Project due to his degredation, was given away to the Rhapsodos family in Banora. Hollander states during his last encounter with Angeal that he is perfect, thus giving us the information that it was Angeal who was the first success of the Jenova Project. In other words, Sephiroth may have been born last, the youngest of the 3.
....Oops, i seemed to have gone off track! I ramble much about this, but considdering I am almost the proud owner of the Compilation (Before Crisis...grr...), I know pretty much quite a lot of stuff between the Compilation, tie-ins, and a few other things...
ok i think i get it...but there could be 3 ways to this Way 1: Hollander was infact Angeal and Genesis's biological father. Genesis was born 1st because Hollander said that Genesis was infused with the cells during his Fetal stage (9 weeks or more in Gillian) and Angeal was considered perfect because Gillian had already been injected/infused with the jenova cells during her pregnancy with Genesis so that would mean that Angeal would have been rather BORN with it than infused with it. If this were the case though...i still don't get why Genesis killed his parents =/ Way 2: Hollander is only Angeal's biological father. Gillian was first infused with the cells then a sample of her was used on Genesis when HIS biological mother (Mrs Rhapsodes =P) willingly participated in the experiment. Gillian later got pregnant with Angeal and that would make him perfection...here's the conversation: Hollander: Gillian, the woman implanted with Jenova cells
Genesis who had her genes mapped onto him during the fetal stage
Yes, Genesis was a failure, i'll admit it
But you Angeal...
You were actually bred inside Gillian's body
You...you are perfection
This way...i have more reason to believe the purpose behind Genesis killing his parents...because they were in on it. Way 3: None of them were Hollander's biological children. Gillian was implanted with the cells (she comes from a poor background and probably needed the money)she later got pregnant with Angeal(she didn't necessarily know she was pregnant with him during the experiment OR she did =P). When Hollander found the experiment successful he used her genes (for more money OR he probably already had samples when he did the experiment the 1st time round so she didn't know about Genesis) on Genesis while HIS mother was pregnant but he didn't turn out as perfect as Angeal. This was why Genesis killed his parents...they willingly accepted to use their unborn child in an experimant. Gillian commited suicide because she was ashamed at what she had done to herself and her own son. I think i prefer Way 3 the most...it makes more sense to me =} P.S Sephiroth was not part of Project G, his mother is Lucrecia and his biological father is Hojo so that's a different story.
There is someone who looks like Hollander in real life[]
Good thing Hollander didn't shave, or didn't even bother to. Denis Squade in the Smart People looks like him. When I first saw the movie, Denis Squade (who looks like Hollander) was there, and it gave me a very high impression of this bastard. See the link: Actually, it would be a Hollander with gold-ish hair, but when you really turn it black, you get him.
Angeal's biological father, again[]
In the "Behind the scenes" section of the page, there's the link to the translation of the interview with the developers: the person who poses the questions says that Angeal is indeed Hollander and Gillian's son by blood, and only asks if the two were married, and the answer does not deny Hollander is the father at any point.
Here's the full quote:
- Q5-1: Angeal is in fact Hollander and Gillian's son by blood, which makes Hollander and Gillian very similiar to Hojo and Lucrecia, but were they married? Or, did Gillian only provide the experiment with her egg and womb, which means that they were only working together? So, in truth which man was "Angeal's father" in terms of Gillian's actual marital status?
- A5-1: "Angeal's father" was Gillian's husband. They met after she escaped to Banora with Angeal, and then married. Gillian kept the truth about Angeal's birth and the related research a secret from her husband. Angeal, being young and having no memory of that past, considered the father he had growing up to be his real father.
As far as any marital relationship between Hollander and Gillian is concerned, that is a secret.
What was asked is if Gillian saw Hollander as a husband or just a coworker, but it's pretty clear they conceived Angeal together. Given that Hollander himself calls Angeal his son in the Japanese version, it's safe to say they are indeed related. What do you think? Pmbarbieri (talk) 11:28, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- Gillian met a man after moving to Banora whom Angeal considered his father from whom he inherited the sword? That answer quoted there is a bit confusing. (If so, what happened to him?) Hollander calling Angeal his son in the Japanese script could be added, versus how it's phrased in the localization.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:23, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- The story goes like this: after Angeal was born, Gillian went to Banora and met the man who would become her husband and Angeal would know as his father. According to Gillian, the man worked himself to death to pay for making the Buster Sword.
In the localization, Hollander never directly refers to Angeal as his son, but he talks about getting revenge for "our family", to which Angeal responds with "no, my father is dead". To me, this implies Angeal subconsciously knows Hollander is his father, but doesn't want to accept it because he considered the man he grew up with to be his real father. Pmbarbieri (talk) 19:15, 6 January 2023 (UTC)- Sounds about right. Could be another contrast to Genesis as well who killed his adoptive parents, claiming they weren't really family anyway.
- I think you can clarify it at the BTS the best you see fit.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 19:46, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
