Talk: Guardians of Terra

Where are they referred to as "Chaos Guardians"? Page needs Japanese but I don't know where to look. JBed (talk) 06:52, July 18, 2016 (UTC)

Lich refers to themselves as "Guardians of Terra" from the screenshot found in the story section of this article. There's ffdic, I will look later today for the Japanese unless someone beats me to it. Fenrir9 (talk) 07:28, July 18, 2016 (UTC)

In Memoria: Maliris: "We meet again... I am one of the Chaos guardians. Kneel before my power!" Well damn, the name needs decapitalising then. Kraken: "I am the 'Water Chaos' Kraken... Lich's dialogue "Guardians of Terra" in the Japanese version is "テラの守護者".

And there's a section header in the FFIX Ultimania calling them ４体のカオス. The section itself refers to ４体のモンスター, though that may be referring to the original guardians, I can't read it.

記憶の場所では、「カオス」と呼ばれる４体のモンスター

と順番に戦っていく。カオスたちはそれぞれ、得意とする

攻撃の属性が異なっている。そのため、相手によって装

備を変更し、敵が得意とする属性を吸収等できるように（ま

たは無効化・半減できるように）しておこう。ちなみにカオ

スたちとのバトルは、発生する場所こそ決まっているが、

ほかのボスモンスターのように対決前の会話などばなく、

特定の場所に足を踏み入れると、いきなりはじまるのだ。

スであるマリリスとのバトルに突入する。マリリスは「マ

I checked the index and didn't see any term for them given there (カオス was there, pointing to the above mentioned section).

And Maliris's speech:

And Kraken's speech:

我こそは水の『カオス』、クラーケン……

貴様らをこの先に進ませるわけにはいかん！！

And Lich's speech:

この土の『カオス』リッチのところまでたどり着くとは……

だが、貴様らの命もここまでだ！覚悟するがいい！

And Kuja:

よく来たね…このクリスタルの記憶から僕が造り出した４つのカオスを倒してきたとは……

So Kuja calls them something like "Four of Chaos" (４つのカオス, yottsu no kaosu). Kraken and Lich call themselves the "Chaos of [Element]"/"[Element] Chaos", just like earlier they were the "Guardian of [Element]"/"[Element] Guardian".

So there are the guardians of Terra (written 守護者 by EarthGuardian, and ガーディアン in Earth Guardian's name and by Maliris); and then there are the Four Chaoses which are born from the memories of the crystal of the guardians, enhanced by "the power of Chaos"... Would "Guardians of Terra" be a better article name then? It's more descriptive and the Chaos guardians' original forms, BUT you can only fight one guardian, and the Water Guardian (or "Water Guard") does not even appear at all. I would name the article "Guardians of Terra". The collective are never referred to as "Chaos Guardians" outside of Maliris's English dialogue; the term "Guardians" seem to only be applied to the pre-Memoria incarnations, and "Chaoses" to them in Memoria (being enhanced with the power of Chaos). If we were to stick with "chaos" I would opt for "Four Chaoses".

However, since the Chaoses are based on the Guardians, I would name the article after the Guardians. So "Guardians of Terra". JBed (talk) 21:13, July 20, 2016 (UTC)
