Hey[]

Shouldn't you guys have more articles here??? -Krauser Pk18

Not a nice thing to say, considering you haven't contributed anything. Master Conjurer 19:59, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Shouldn't you fuck off? Yes, I'm seriously that tired I can't be bothered to come up with anything more "intellectual".  ILHI 14:15, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

I have request. Can you place link to my new polish Final Fantasy Wiki on the main page? Here's the URL:

http://pl.finalnafantazja.wikia.com/wiki/.

I will appreciate it. Final_Cannon 04:26, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Why did you start a brand-new Polish FFWiki? One already existed. Faethinte audio 16:13, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but that writes articles only about Final Fantasy VIII. I'm created Wiki about whole series.
No, that wiki currently only has FFVIII pages (probably, haven't seen)  ILHI 14:46, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Well I've seen it and it indeed does only have VIII articles, but hey, there was a time when this very same Wiki had only VI pages and there was much rejoice. I should probably ask Diablo and 8bit about adding this new Polish FFWiki to our affiliates. Faethinte audio 14:59, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
You could have adopted the other one. It already has over 100 stubs; that's less work, if you ask me. Plus, the new one only has Final Fantasy X info, so I see little difference. Eric Ryan Jones 00:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Eric Ryan Jones, Master Epopt — 00:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
OK, so I understand that another 500 articles is a big deal. Question is, is it so big a deal after 10,000? The point I drill at is that 10,000 is a big, round number that says, "Hey, look! I'm an accomplishment!" 10,500, on the other hand, gets a reaction to the effect of, "Huh, wonder when they'll get to 11,000." I know that we will get there, but why not bask in the 10,000 until we get to another nice, big, round number?

On the "Did you know" template, it states "...Edea Kramer was originally designed for and planned to appear in Final Fantasy VII?". This I did not know, but is it true? What are we gonna do if we hit 12,000 pages on the Wiki? SSFF6B 22:40, November 24, 2009 (UTC)SSFF6B

I'd wait for 12,500 to do anything. Drake Clawfang 22:51, November 24, 2009 (UTC)
Personally I think that remark saying that we have over 10,000 articles on the wiki is a bit pointless, as we can see that we have over 10,000 articles in the preceding sentence anyway. It's like we insulting the reader's intelligence if you ask me. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 22:57, November 24, 2009 (UTC)
You don't know our userbase very well do you? Drake Clawfang 22:58, November 24, 2009 (UTC)
Are you suggesting that the people in the userbase have the memory of a goldfish? They read the first sentence, then instantly forget it and need to be reminded by the big, red sentence that follows? Other than the fact that it's unnecessary, it's wrong, too. We don't have 10,000 articles. We have more than that. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 23:04, November 24, 2009 (UTC)

I'm suggesting, aside from a handful of users, our userbase has the collective IQ of a goldfish. Drake Clawfang 23:18, November 24, 2009 (UTC)

Come now Drake, no need to be kind. The collective IQ of the wiki is around that of an ameba. Excluding certain users, of course.  Armageddon11! Dissicon ff12 Gab2} 23:32, November 24, 2009 (UTC)

Serious Mistakes..[]

Most if not all of the articles here need to be re-done. The Final Fantasy series is and always has been a japanese game. It was only dubbed to be english (or any other language) like any anime or manga would be. Most of whats been dubbed, has been changed to suite english and other countries tastes or what they allow for there culture and certain ages. All of this is false information. For example, orginally Yu Yeven is not the name for Final Fantasy X's main antagonist; it is Ebon Ju. All if not most of the Final Fantasy games have been altered in similiar ways. This wikia should have written all the information in its orginal japanese incarnation making little references to the english and other countries alterations, not the other way around. Can't anything be done about this? Technically this site is spreading and supporting false information. Not on too serious a level obviously or else the site would have been closed down long ago but for all past, present and future fans of the series, its misleading; and for its creators its offensive. I like the way you say it as though we're mature, responsible adults and professionals. The Man In The Black Cape 21:18, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, your wrong. It is our country's own version to it yes but that doesn't make it "our own version" in that it was made specifically by us. Its an altered version of the orginal. Altered to suit our different cultures. Meaning it was only altered by us. This may be the international site but you still have to write in accordance with the orginal. Pointing out the differences from the orginal and the remake. Its still english, obviously but pointing out what was the orginal and what was made to suit us is still necessary. Darklighter88 21:46, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

We write in English. Why? Because, what casual fan gives two shits about the Japanese name or whatever of a villain? Hexed 21:49, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

Researchers, hardcore fans, obsessors, nit-pickers.. who knows. Thats what this place is about. Thats why its so detailed. For informations sake. Darklighter88 22:02, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

Then they can go to the Japanese FFWiki. This is the English FFWiki, we write in English. You might as well be going to the Japanese FFWiki and yelling at them for not writing their pages in English. It is plain stupid. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:03, June 16, 2010 (UTC)
Final Fantasy Wiki is a Wiki focusing on the English language localizations of the Final Fantasy video game series, developed by Square Co. (now Square Enix). The Wiki is dedicated to collecting information about the Final Fantasy series of video games, from elements of storyline to gameplay. This wiki is about the English games. It is for the english fans. Other Japanese wikis exist for Japanese people. The wiki is also not only for information's sake, but for usefulness. I actually use it pretty often when I play. I couldn't do that if the wiki was in Japanese, or about the Japanese games. KujaRhapsodos 22:07, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

In most pages the character's/etc Japanese name has been mentioned along with the English name. It is mentioned in that Yu Yevon page as well. And if a character has more names say in the German or French versions, they should be there mentioned as well. Doesn't this suffice? Keltainentoukokuu 02:34, June 17, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu

Yes and no. This kind of information should be more widespread , not just for most of the pages but for all if its possible. When I said before about this place spreading false infomation, that was a bit much; but you do understand what I mean right? Darklighter88 09:53, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

We are the English wiki, and we run of the English localization, as many have already said. Want the Jap names and titles? The jap wiki will be more than happy to oblige you. Likeacupcake 12:44, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Fair Enough Darklighter88 18:10, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

We do try to add in material from the Japanese versions into our pages, such as the names of characters and items, or certain properties that made the Japanese versions of the game series different from the localized ones to make ours comprehensive. But our resources are limited, and there's only a select few who have access to them and able to share it with the wiki. But we do our best. BLUER一番 18:19, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

I can't for the life of me find a way to scale external images on the wiki. The new Almanach logo expands past the affiliates table, which is why I had undone the edit in the first place. Is there a way to fix this? JohnnyC 05:21, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

The only platform on which I see this as an issue is the netbook. On any other computer, that logo being too wide indicates an outdated monitor or graphics card. Unfortunately for netbook- and legacy monitor-users, external images do not resize properly on Wikia. Master Conjurer 06:10, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
UPDATE: Actually, I'm going to agree with you, over DelNorte and 8-bit, but for different reason. We've been sticking to Wiki_wide because it is actually a logo. It has deprecated, but when it was chosen it actually meant more than some banner put on the main page. I disagree with the current image, and would prefer that an image that fit Wikia's old themes be retained, for aesthetic and accessibility reasons. Master Conjurer 06:45, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
Since it is our right as the "host" wiki to regulate the appearance of our main page, I would agree that we should change the Almanach's image for the convenience of our users. I'm not so much doing this for the aesthetics reason, as I don't really see much difference aesthetically between a render of Squall and renders of other protagonists. However, we should make the Main Page as organized as possible, and if an external image makes it unreadable for people such as JohnnyC, then we should revert it. </pretentiousness>
Sorry I didn't realize what the problem with the external image was earlier. So, a "Wiki Wide" image will adjust itself to fit on any Wiki, on any screen? 8bit BlackMage 15:16, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
Wiki-wide is designed to fit in the corner of that old theme before Monaco. The reason I have faith in its legibility is in that purpose: Wikia chose those dimensions because they fit on any realistic page. If the wiki-wide won't fit, somebody's netbook is showing too many windows. Master Conjurer 18:05, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
I've resized the image to something similar to the other logos. Acceptable? YuanSalutActa 00:09, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

Organization[]

I'd like to propose a new organization system for list of games. This is what I came up with, essentially it just rearranges them a bit and adds headers for the FF11 expansions, Ivalice, CC, etc. Doreiku Kuroofangu 19:55, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Looks good to me, aside from the fact that you added Final Fantasy Tactics to two other locations in addition to Ivalice. but hey, little things. Jimcloud 19:57, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Noticed that, fixed. Also ignore the colors, I don't think it matters much unless there's a pattern to stick to, in which case it's an easy change. Doreiku Kuroofangu 19:59, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Well, it looks a lot more compact, which is a bonus. Organization seems coherent, colors can be changed if need be (there's a lot of light red, IMO). My only real tweak to the arrangement would be fixing the small bit of space at the top of the second column. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon BSA 20:13, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't know why that's there. You know how to get rid of it, be my guest. Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:14, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Mind if I move "Related Titles" into the first column, too, actually? No worries if not. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon BSA 20:17, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
UPDATE: Blah. I give up. It seems to be leftover spacing from the bulleted list above it somehow, so I just lowered the first column with an empty div tag. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon BSA 21:11, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Looks better than what it's now. It looks a bit off FFXIII isn't under Fabula Nova Crystallis and Revenant Wings isn't listed with sequels, but then you might not want games listed twice even if they fit more than one category.Keltainentoukokuu 02:59, April 20, 2011 (UTC)
