Is this the same demo that was playable to public in some events? Could mention in the intro if so. Should the article mention the demo was leaked in December (or whenever?)?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:39, March 3, 2020 (UTC)

Yes it is the very demo that was leaked from what I can tell. Honestly, it is worth mentioning due to it being covered by most news outlets, and can be mentioned in the development or release section. Here's some decent sources on the subject.
Hope this helps. --Miphares (talk) 17:08, March 3, 2020 (UTC)
I don't see any reason why not, ladies. At the top of my list is making sure we don't give too much away. Yes, a lot can change in a month or so, but I still think we can do more to encourage folks to try it out. There's a certain cinematic quality to it, so we should do our best not to ruin the movie. Is the claim that we should avoid spoilers for the main game? This sounds like a bad idea. Cat (meowhunt) 18:54, March 3, 2020 (UTC)
What I'm saying is that I'm against heavy spoilage. If it has to be that we tell the whole story, then we need to frame it in spoiler tags. What complicates matters here is that many of our readers have probably already played the game from 20 years ago. The core narrative hasn't really changed, but there's a lot of backstory that has been added. I'm of the opinion as well that some people won't even buy the game if they know in advance how it turned out. I also don't know where I read this, but there are some editors out there on Fandom who won't mess with an article if they know it's got spoilers in it. Then there's this: a great deal was left to the imagination back in 1997. I would expect no less here in 2020. In the age of data mining, however, there is no concept of sacredness. It's even as bad as Square Enix having to get the drop on fan media by putting things out before they're actually ready. We can't stop that part of it, but we have control over what we can write about it. And if I'm going to plop down upwards of $80, it better be well worth the experience. That's all I'm saying. If spoilers are present, spoiler policy must be enforced in whatever form that currently takes. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 19:38, March 3, 2020 (UTC)
Of course our spoiler policy applies; we will frame the story in spoiler tags as we always do. Do not edit an article if you think it will have spoilers and that will ruin your experience. Cat (meowhunt) 19:52, March 3, 2020 (UTC)
Apparently the demo at public events was just the Scorpion boss fight. You'd have to find a source for that though. JBed (talk) 19:12, March 3, 2020 (UTC)
The demo at public events, such as Comic Con, EGX, etc., was basically just the Scorpion boss fight. It started with a conversation with Jessie in the room, then Cloud and Barret descend fighting a few enemies, before then fighting the Scorpion. The demo also didn't have the triangle commands.
I played it myself at Comic Con, so I can confirm. I wouldn't bother mentioning it at all in the article though. Public event demos don't really warrant articles themselves.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 19:33, March 3, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I'm bloody dumb, I didn't read the first sentence properly, I haven't been able to think clesrly the last day. No, the public event one has subtle differences in combat and not having a lot of the story scenes, like Techno mentioned, so the public event demo doesn't need an article. However, the leak should be stated, since how many reports there were. --Miphares (talk) 19:55, March 3, 2020 (UTC)
