Gilgamesh: Enough expository banter!
This talk page is used for discussing improvements to the page "Final Fantasy Type-0: Change the World -The Answer-". It is not the place for general discussion or sharing stories about the topic of this article.

Hi, Cla here. I've just started working on the synopsis of both Type-0 novels. If anyone is willing, could you give me any feedback about the length of the synopsis for chapter 1? I've tried to condense it but please let me know if it looks like an unsightly wall of text. Thanks! Ekureru (talk) 18:53, September 1, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for doing this. :) How many chapters are there? You can always just write it and trim it later when we have the whole thing.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:44, September 2, 2015 (UTC)
Hi! Thanks for the reply and the trimming-down! :) The first book has 5 full chapters and 1 transition chapter, while the second one has 1 opening chapter followed by 5 full chapters and 1 epilogue. Also, for the entire thing, the name of the chapters actually starts with Chapter Zero (followed by Chapter 1, 2, 3 etc) so I'm not sure whether to follow that naming system or just start with 'Chapter 1' here. Anyway, I'll take your suggestion and work on the entire thing first before I put it here :) Also, I'll try to condense each chapter to the length of your edited version. That's not too bad then. I would use the same chapter names as in the book. :) It can be a bit long here since this is gonna be the only content on this page, basically. Then we can copy the relevant stuff to other articles. It seems the opening is the same as in the game, which makes sense even if it is the cycle before the game's cycle (right?), so...hmm, it's probably not worth adding that to Izana's page...Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 08:18, September 3, 2015 (UTC)EDIT: Oh I see the novel info has been incorporated into his Type-0 story section currently....well that's not at all correct. Guess we'll see what to do about that sometime.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 08:20, September 3, 2015 (UTC)
Yes, the novels tell about what happens in the cycle before the game's cycle. The whole story itself is similar to that of the game, but they do have some differences. I checked Izana's wiki page and it seems to me that the current story written there is the one from the game (from opening scene as well as Ace's dreams about Izana, which recount how they interacted before Izana's death).
Anyway, a lot of the chapters are organised by pairs. For example, one of the chapters tells about Nine and Sice and even though that chapter starts with them and the others being sent to a mission, afterwards the chapter focuses solely on how they interact and what happens in their pasts. Only at the very end of the chapter that the other characters enter the storyline again when the two are asked to regroup with the other Class Zero students. So what I'm thinking is that I'll put the general synopsis here but we can try incorporating the more character-centric parts (e.g. what happened to Sice's parents and how she was found by Arecia) on the characters' respective pages. Please let me know what you think about this :) And just for the information, here are the list of chapters:
Book 1:
Chapter 0: Izana and Ace (Ballad of the Soldier without A Name)
Chapter 1: Machina and Rem (Memories of the Vanished Ones)
Chapter 2: Queen and Kurasame (Queen and The Reaper)
Chapter 3: Nine and Sice (Fear that Transcends Speed of Sound)
Chapter 4: Jack and Deuce (One Day, I'll be Able to Smile Genuinely)
Transition: Machina (The Answer)
Book 2:
Intermission: Machina (The Gears)
Chapter 5: Trey and Cinque (The World in a Spiral)
Chapter 6: Eight and Cater (The Final Boundary of Loss and Forgetting)
Chapter 7: Seven and King (The Heritage)
Chapter 8: Rem and Machina (The End of Illusion)
Chapter 9: Arecia (Agito)
Epilogue/Introduction (The Penultimate Truth)

Even that bit about fighting coeurls with a friend is from the game? Well then I guess my memory isn't the best! Adding the character-specific story sections to their articles, perhaps modified as to read from their pov would be great. :)Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:33, September 3, 2015 (UTC)

I'll have to check again about that part – I've been consolidating things from the cutscenes, novels and manga at the same time so I might have mixed up some of the info :) But the other parts like Machina naming his chocobo and Izana having arguments with Machina are definitely game-only. Nonetheless, I think for now I'll just focus on gathering and selecting stuff from the novels and afterwards we can look into how we can put these parts on the appropriate pages :) Anyway, the character-specific stories in the novels are pretty much told from their POVs – lots of what the characters think in their heads. I find them to be quite telling about how they think of each other, tbh :) Ekureru (talk) 15:05, September 3, 2015 (UTC)
Looking forward to reading them. :) (How random is it that French was the only language it was localized to ?_? Guess someone on the French side was very proactive to getting it done.)Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 15:58, September 3, 2015 (UTC)
I know! I was rather surprised too, but this isn't the first time a Final Fantasy novel is localised to French. I know that there is an official Japanese-French translation for Episode Zero -Promise- from FFXIII by the same publisher and translator. Ekureru (talk) 16:31, September 3, 2015 (UTC)
