Images[edit source]

This recent influx of equipment images on other pages got me thinking. In FF4 DS, each weapon and shield has a distinct sprite that shows up on the character when you equip them. Surely, somehow somewhere, there's a way to acquire rips of these images for usage. Anyone know a way to get them? Drake Clawfang 02:03, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Bring up an emulator, take a screen shot, and photoshop the weapon out of the picture. It's a real pain. ScatheMote 02:08, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, i agree with ^^^^, the images look like they're just pallete swaps... wait, THEY ARE --Steamygoreng (talk | contribs) ¡ʞnɔsnoʎ'sıɥʇpɐǝɹnoʎɟı 23:09, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Item Cost[edit source]

Since the DS version is vastly different from the other versions (SNES, PS1, GBA, and PSP). Many Items/Weapons/Armor have different cost between the DS and the other versions. Is it a good idea to split the cost into two category like the Attack and Accuracy? Fenrir9 01:22, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Could do so if possible, as long as it doesn't make the table too crunched and whatnot. Though this game's have had so many releases like FFI that it'll probably end up as crunched as that game's data pages anyways x_x;; Xenomic 01:23, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
Actually, there are 2 version of FFIV. DS vs everything else. That is why I'm asking and yeah, I'll probably get too crunched up. So, what now? Fenrir9 01:27, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
What we COULD do is remove the Description column and add that to where the Effects column is by splitting that column in half, and splitting the Cost columns into two parts like the other columns are. I think that might work, no? Xenomic 01:30, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, not every weapon has a Effect column. Check out the Dark Swords section to see what I mean. But yeah, the Effect/Element column on some of the weapon section should go away. How about you do the Dark Sword section for an example, I don't mind doing the rest of the page in that format. The description can go in a 6 row expansion like that of the Deathbringer. Merge description with stat info. Fenrir9 01:42, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry if it doesn't have an Effect column, just add the description down there anyways. I gave my best shot at it, but it's not exactly as I'd want. Trying to keep it so that the blue area is still to the right of the text area...not sure how to deal with that. Might need something in there that I'm forgetting... Xenomic 01:53, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
I understand what you are saying, I'll work on it tomorrow and I know how you want it to be. Fenrir9 03:57, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Fixing Table[edit source]

De-confusing Article[edit source]

I've been working on numerous FFIV articles these past weeks, and when it comes to FFIV (this page)... There lies much confusion. This page definitely requires a "Who can equip what" column... in fact, it should be mandatory, especially for games where a simple "Dagger" category with a little phrase isn't enough. This occurred to me a few days ago on the Interlude Weapon/Armor page. I'm writing here for two purposes, to de-confuse the article and to insert a Character category column.

The page is already boggled up as it is, but everything already on here is required information. But here is the confusing part. All FFIV vs DS. I will not go into gruesome details since this is not the point of this post, to me, FFIV DS is a separate game from FFIV. It has the same names for the weapons/armor, can be bought at the same place (I think)... and that's it if I remember correctly. I propose that we create a "Final Fantasy IV weapons/Armor DS Version" page. Only for these two pages, nothing else. Looking thru the page, the info about these DS weapons/armor are all boggle up together such as weapon bonus stats, elemental type, etc, with FFIV (all versions) and leads to confusion (even to me!). DS armor provides extra resistance that same armor in FFIV does not. A simple (DS only) is not good enough for me in these locations. I really feel sorry for the newcomers of the non-DS FFIV if they use this page for reference.

Separating All FFIV and DS version into there own articles would clean the article up, make it more precise for these two type of games, make space (required for the Character column), and most of, it would all clear up the confusion. DS weapons/armor are found on the DS pages, All other FFIV weapons/armor are found on all other FFIV pages. I'm writing here because I am willing and able to do it, but I would like some feedback on this from my fellow wikians first and foremost.

Sorry for the long post, but I pretty much said what I wanted to say. Fenrir9 (talk) 14:01, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

For the list pages like Weapons, Armor, and perhaps even Enemy Abilities, yeah I actually would support the DS version getting a dedicated subpage, as you say the FF4 pages are already crowded and the DS version is so different it just makes things more complicated. Doreiku Kuroofangu 15:00, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
I forgot about the enemy abilities, yeah they have totally different effects and power along with new elements (Wind, Water, etc). I will not be the one to do that page simply because I played that game around a year after it came out and I recently played the game a (non-DS FFIV version) recently. Also, what do you mean by a subpage? Isn't "Final Fantasy IV weapons DS Version" article not enough for the title? Fenrir9 (talk) 19:18, October 20, 2012 (UTC)

Easy Type[edit source]

Similar to the above discussion, how are we going about covering Easy Type weaponry? Lots of changes were made to the weapons such as full blown name change, different attributes (enemy type modifier, attack power, bonus stats, etc). A "Final Fantasy IV Easy Type weapons"? Or something along the lines of this. Fenrir9 (talk) 15:01, February 17, 2015 (UTC)

The problem with tabs is that you can't directly link to the weapons on the second tab from other pages, or can you?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 15:59, February 17, 2015 (UTC)
That is something that I would like to know as well. Fenrir9 (talk) 16:07, February 17, 2015 (UTC)
