Japanese Title[]

I watched Final Fantasy 8 Japanese videos, and from what I read, "Matron" is "Mama-Sensei" in the Japanese version. Could I put that down? --Dethklok91 (talk) 01:46, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

That's interesting. Have you got the kanji thing for it too?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) :01:57, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Yes. It's actually a mix of Kanji and Romaji. "ママ先生." -- Dethklok91 (talk) 03:22, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

You could add it and use a nihongo template for it. {{nihongo|Matron|Kanji|Romaji|Literal translation}} You can leave the literal translation out if it doesn't apply.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 15:56, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Job class[]

I'm putting her job class as black mage since her sorceress powers are offensive as is her limit break, Ice Strike. Any objections? -Eileen-

Whateva. Sorcerer, though, is a job, but most people call it Mystic Knight. --Crazyswordsman 01:07, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

picture[]

How about an image of non-sorceress Edea to show her other side?

Ffx-bahamut.jpg

That's a fantastic idea! I'll put one up, but if you have a better one, please post it! Pictomancer 14:26, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

^O^ Guess you'll just have to use Adel instead. Aren't you glad Ultimecia at least had fashion sense? Pictomancer 00:32, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

BlueHighwind TA.png

Just wish to point out, the only reason Edea wears what she does wear is because Ultimecia makes her do it ~.^ That was what I meant by fashion sense. Pictomancer 00:41, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Ah. My mistake. I do apologize ^O^ Pictomancer 00:53, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Edit[]

I want to edit this section:

"Shortly before the game begins, Ultimecia took full control of Edea, turning her into a power-hungry sorceress. During a broadcast by President Deling, Seifer tried to assassinate the president of Galbadia. Edea--or rather, Ultimecia--took pity on Seifer, and spirited him away with her. She survived an assassination attempt by SeeD, killed President Deling, and took command of the Galbadian army afterwards. Because of the failed assassination, she declared SeeD as an enemy and ordered missile attacks on Trabia and Balamb Gardens. While Balamb Garden flew out of the way, Trabia Garden was not as lucky. Later, forces from Galbadia brought over by Galbadia Garden attempted to invade Balamb Garden, with little success."

I want to do that, because Ultimecia never turned Edea into a power-hungry sorceress. She just possessed Edea's body, and controlled it from the inside, like a puppet. Edea herself never killed Delling, or ordered a missile attack on the Gardens. It was Ultimecia using her appearance(body).

Any objections?

But that's not only about us, that's about everyone in the Net who visit this place. Many people think Edea's heart was corrupted by evil, like what Zemus did with Golbez. They believe she was evil and has controll of her own actions. But this is wrong.

This is Wikipedia, we have to give the right information to everyone.

BlueHighwind TA.png

And? Just because it's not Wikipedia, we can post misinformation and lies?

BlueHighwind TA.png

BlueHighwind TA.png

I don't hate her. I just want everyone to understand "The evil sorceress Edea that took controll of Galbadia" don't exist. It was "The evil sorceress Ultimecia(in disguise) that took control of Galbadia". In the meantime, Edea was incapable of controlling her own body. How can you say Edea killed Delling, ordered a missile attack, and etc, if she doesn't have control of her own actions?

What this article is doing, is marginalazing Ultimecia. By stating Edea did all those things, it is stating Ultimecia did nothing(outside of Time Compression) during the entire game. That's a LIE!

Hi, it's me again. I will call myself, Rede. It seems no one here paid attention to the story of FFVIII. , When Squall goes to the past(with Ellone's help), he saw Ultimecia's soul going out of Edea's body and entering Rinoa's. THAT's how it happens. She enters a body, and use it as if is her own body. Like the demon possesing the girl in "The Exorcist", Agent Smith possesing Bane in "Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions", Captain Ginyu possesing Goku's body, with his "change of body" technique in DBZ, Hojo possesing Weiss in FFVII: DoC... The list goes on. Edea didn't kill Delling or anything else. It was her body, but it wasn't her. Pay attention to the story guys!

Hecko avatar.JPG

Rede: Exactly. And another problem I have with the article, is about Edea killing Delling, ordering the missiles attack, etc. As explained before, she never did any of that.

It's a shame that the members of FF Wiki who edit it, have so little understanding of FFVIII's plot. Some of them, like BlueHighwind, are even FFVIII haters who never finished the game. And by consequence, Ultimecia is marginalazed across the internet(FF Wiki, like Wikipedia, helps to spread information AND misinformation across the Net).

T4HoL-Kuore.png

Rede: "FFVIII don't have any plot" and "a badly writen love story". Yes, you and your friends are FFVIII haters. That's obvious by just reading your comments.

But back to the main topic... As it is presented in the game itself, Ulti's soul enters a soreceress' body, and she use it as if is her own body. And that means she killed Delling, ordered the missiles attack, gave the speech in Galbadia, threw an ice spear against Squall's chest and etc. Not Edea. That's a fact. The information in Edea's article is wrong and it have to be corrected.

Hecko avatar.JPG
BlueHighwind TA.png

Edea - "The sorceress that appeared in Galbadia was in fact Ultimecia...inside my shell."

As stated in the quote above, Edea was nothing more than a "shell", an "armor" being used by Ultimecia. If you guys want to give credit to Ulti's "armor" instead of herself, then I suggest you create a new page about Golbez's armor, and all the great things it did during FFIV.

And did you guys watch the trailers of Dissidia? The fight between Warrior of Light and Garland's armor was cool, wasn't it? I loved what the armor said to WoL.

*sigh*

Edea's Grandmother?[]

Where did the information that Edea received her first sorceress powers from her grandmother come from? I didn't see any dialog in the game to support that (And I just played the game recently) nor do I remember an official source. A quick check on google showed that this is the only page to claim this information besides a fanfic. So...Am I missing something that was just released or does this not have a source? I know this isn't wikipedia but there's no source that I can find for it at all. --Delphi 18:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Problem Report[]

There seems to be a discrepancy in information, on Rinoa's page and the page about Sorceress power it states that the Rinoa received her powers from Edea duing disc II after the Battle of the Gardens, yet on Edea's page it states that Edea passed on her powers sometime after the Battle of the Gardens when the party arrives at Esthar for the first time (disc III?). Which bit of information is correct? - 72.222.201.165 10:46, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

When she was defeated for the last time at the battle of the gardens the pink light that you saw when Ultimacia possesed Rinoa was Edea giving Rinoa her powers. - Logan Haney

Yet shortly after that, Edea is playable and seems to still have her sorceress power (particularly the Ice Strike Limit Break)...

She is so AWESOME![]

I love her look and everything about her, I wish she was playable through the whole game. I would have her in my party always. Does anybody else agree with me?

Edea's Speech[]

So like..I have her entire speech. Do you think it'd be a good addition if we put it somewhere in here? o.o Fallen-Todesengel 02:31, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

I think the whole thing would be a bit too much. Maybe if you pick one line you can add it underneath the one at the top. Moocowisi 02:34, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

Developing Para-Magic[]

This is taken direct from the FF8 Ultimania guide:

Historically, there have been 3 important witches. Ah, some time ago, I mentioned them. Their names will be on the test. Ahahaha, though there may not be many that easy. Well.
One witch is said to have, in ancient times, stood up for the sake of the people in a country at the time of its collapse. A movie was made about this witch and her knight, Zefer, which I think a lot of people have probably seen, huh?
Next was the witch who divided the world at the time of the Sorceress War. She was a terrible witch.
And then, who’s the one most familiar to us? Yes, yes, it is. This witch cooperated in research on the mechanics of magic, thanks to which everyone can use magic, huh?

It may just be speculation, but perhaps this third Sorceress was Edea? The timeframe would fit, since apparently it was Dr. Odine who developed Para-Magic. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:37, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Strange...in game history has it that Odine developed the Junction System while in Esthar. Which means either Adel, or possibly Ellone, is the one he is talking about. Netherith 23:35, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
Except that Ellone isn't a Sorceress. I personally believe it's Edea, considering she's familiar with Odine, although we gotta remember that Rinoa who's never to Esthar knows about Odine too, which makes him kinda like a household name.
Thanks to that time between Cid establishing the Garden and Edea first possessed by Ultimecia never mentioned, there's plenty to speculate, but finally I get what the Epilogue talked about xD BLUER一番 02:45, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

Any idea who might be teaching this lesson? Sounds a little too air-headed to be Quistis and the teacher refers herself as a her so it can't be Odine, Aki or Cid. Could this actually be Edea teaching the class? Netherith 01:25, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Not sure. Based on the Zefer article you made you likely read the translations on the site itself, and though I may have missed it I think the instructor isn't named. Doreiku Kuroofangu 02:54, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Defense[]

Can someone please post a picture in this section of what she looks like when performing the defend skill, her defense position.

It's worth noting that her speech in the English version is very very different from the Japanese version. In Japanese it was less hostile, more vague and didn't really seem like she was talking to anyone. Geez i need to make a talkbox lol --Spira 06:12, April 4, 2011 (UTC)
