The character models in FFVII use four-letter names as their filenames, and "edea" was the name of one of the (two) NPCs who appear in Shinra Building in that room where you have to run past the guards. this one. Of course, names are trivial. Cloud, the first model, is aaaa. And I think Aeris was avhe. I made a list here.
I believe that in both the PS and PC versions of the game (I haven't actually checked any (this info is from Shademp), they could have fixed it for 2012) the model is glitched like this.
